Recycling ideas and sophont designs to make something new but here's one I liked
Here is an image of my character Yarlu styling her integument in a gender affirming fashion. She occupies a transfeminine/transmodor gender space within her culture, with short "feathers" being considered somewhere between feminine and gender neutral.
She is a Lower vitvit who has joined a nearby monastic order for a variety of reasons. Members of her monastic order tend to wear gender neutral clothing and "hair" styles which is what initially attracted Yarlu to the order.
The mirror she is viewing herself in has a stylized vitvit eye at each corner, which serve a religious/ apotropaic purpose. The bottle on the shelf in front of her is stylized with "kee plant" imagery and contains oil used to stylize and maintain the scale-like integument common to both vitvit and kee.

This is a piece I finished last year but didn't get around to uploading. I still like it!
I've witnessed the end of history, only to live long past it, enough to see it born anew.
I've seen the world at it's darkest hours, It's cruelest rulers. Only for the tide of time to bring new faces, new places, only for the tide of time to wash them away too.
I've seen it all, so many times I've grown numb to it all.
I have work to do. There's always work to do. All that's left is work to do.

This was meant to be a warmup painting and I ended up with this LMAO. I guess this is an accidental introduction to the main character of a Story of Our Universe. Everyone welcome Awa'A, the last factorem. She's one of thousands of Eralopers left in the universe. People who endure the sands of time to preserve history. She's travelled all of creation and experienced a life longer than entire stars. She's seen everything and lost everything. She's tired of it all.
Grox aren't the only sapient species important to Daybreak- meet the Xolians.
NEW ALIEN
I call them Ocira. They're a sort of combination of seals and octopus. They're pseudo-eusocial and very kind
That wrinkly thing on their chest are their gills, which they can use to express certain emotions.
Their "teeth" are truly spines that can be raised to eat meat, or flattened to chomp plants.
To communicate, they do a sort of drumming and pinching of their swim bladders for different tones and squeaks.
They live on an ocean planet, in shallow, warm waters around reefs.
I might draw them more and tell more about them 😸
*update! This post has been edited and is a bit outdated. See the most recent posts about the ocira sophont for better information 😸
