Hey, may I get a step-by-step for the backgrounds you use/make? I like them a lot, and I'd like to implement some of that into my art 🐈⬛
Sorry I didn't see this sooner!! Work was busy recently!!
There are usually 3 ways I tackle a background, and I just want to throw this out here, that backgrounds are not my specialty, but experimenting and practicing a lot got me to move past white/png void bgs when I started digital art haha. Anyways.
The 3 techniques I use to get a background done are:
*If it's a city, landscape, anything from real life, I heavily rely on references, whether that's sampling from it or using a free stock image to paint ontop of to get me started.
*If I want something more abstract and quicker, I use free 'textured' backgrounds, which usually contain splotches, water color, anything that looks rough and heavily textured that I can use to paint ontop of.
*Lastly if I don't want to use any stock photos that doesnt fit my needs, I'll make my own texture background with the various brushes I have in my roster to come up with something on the spot and mess with the colors until I get something close to what I want.
(Honey eater brush on procreate is my favorite brush as my go to!)
Hopefully this helps a bit! There are a ton of creative ways you can make backgrounds! Sometimes they don't need backgrounds, you do whatever makes you proud of your drawings!
