I feel sorry for this answer because a minority of people will know what I'm talking about. But this is another one of those 'almost happened' big fics.

There was a period of time I was gungho to do a rewrite / expansion of the Deponia trilogy, but amp Goal's character up hard. Goal and Rufus's goals would get compared / contrasted in their push to save the planet. The emotional pangs from the fourth game would sneak into this retelling, a lot more angst would be given to Rufus (though he'd still be a piece of shidddd), and a connection between Rufus and Goal would form out of the genuine development of their needs, frustrations, fears, and trajectories. I was excited to dig into the depths of many cast members. Trash planets, awful character duos, wacky shenanigans, angst, regret, romance, there was so much depth I could've explored.

The Deponia games make me rabid, y'all. It was inevitable I'd want to creatively write from it.

How I feel about this character

The fact she started as the stereotype of sleeping beauty (and well... Sort of went through it a lot KSJEJRJSJSHD) BUT THEN LIKE. WHEN SHE WAS CONCIOUS (GOOD LORT THIS SOUNDS BAD) SHE SLAYED.

Just as I mentioned in my Borderlands girlies, Deponia ones are also strong af. And Goal is one of the examples. She lived in a utopia (well not on Utopia but Elysium but u know) and went on the trip because she wanted to make sure. She was Cletus' fiance and seemed to care about him but when she learnt about state of Deponia, what did she do? She ATE that and immediately was like 'we gonna inform them all'. And like I feel the disc is a great social commentary esp since only women got those. Horrible misoginism around, to be able to erase someone's being so easily, or split it to main factors, eughhhh. Yet! It brings such an interesting narrative!!

Lady Goal - all the upbringing she went to. The perfection others got into her brain

Baby Goal - the childhood he lost, the innocence and care in the world

Spunky Goal - adventurous. The part that got to talk most on Deponia, and in the fourth game imo.

The fact the internalised conflict got shown so well in the game. And then the self betrayal, only for her to come back once again.

And then again, in Goodbye Deponia. Goal kept on reinforcing herself as an independent fella who still sometimes fell for Rufus' lies. The fact that till the end, her own goal (haha) of getting to Ulysess and telling about Deponia worked out, and then, she had to lose Rufus just hurts a lot. The fact she didn't want to let herself mourn, that she had to bring back Rufus because he never gave up during the story - ough. She lost her home. She lost so much. And in the end, she let herself accept it and go.

She saw the world with a pink eye monocle. Cus she kept on calling Rufus and other people out. She could do so on Elysium probably, seeing her upbringing but also, she had to go opposite to her Lady training.

She's a great character. Truly

All the people I ship romantically with this character

BRO you single handedly made me like her with all the clones. Rufus, Cletus, Argus, though for Argus mostly as funny enemies-besties.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

I want to see her act more with rest of the squad. Lotti, June, Hermes, Doc, Bambina,,, there are a lot I think if she had more time, would love to have her around.

This fandom has great takes so I don't think I have any. I'm a bit too rusty tho sjshsh

Rufus runs out of gas when he sees the ocean.

The road ahead is a welcome sight, the pack of Fewlocks trailing him have vanished from the rearview mirror.

A normal person would expect things to go down south soon, but Rufus is pressing on - regardless or specifically for this reason.

The door rattles as he slams it shut and he gives the car an affectionate pat for having gotten him so far. It's time to clean out his inventory, only take what's most important and not waste any time in doing so. He can't afford to be slowed down by too much additional weight.

Going over the bare essentials he chooses the torn-off handle from the time-pod (weirdly the only thing he has to remember Goal by), and the pills Dr. Gizmo has prescribed him - then he's off.

With no Fewlocks in sight, he sticks with a casual stroll. The premade road is open and easy enough to follow. A couple of miles ahead it bends and the quickest way to the sea will require a trek through the junk-hills.

The port doesn't seem to get closer, Rufus is glad he's packed lightly.

Then his stomach growls.

Oh my....I cant pick just one😂 imma say a 3 way tie between the one where tex beats the shit out of Tucker and the reds in that old warehouse place, the one where tex beats the shit out of Maine, Wyoming, and york, and the one where carolina and wash fight locus and felix at the purge tower. The animated fights were just 👌👌👌👌 (I dont remember what any of the episodes were called or what number or even what season, I am,,,,,so sorry😅I have a terrible memory)

11. Least favorite character? Oh dear I love all of them so much....I genuinely dont think I have a least favorite at least in the main cast. Can I say Andy the bomb? I'm gonna say Andy the bomb, he was annoying as hell to me😂

How I feel about this character

Few men are stuck in my head for years. This one has been in it since 2015.

I'm so mad how people forget he IS an asshole canonically!! I feel it's due to us playing as him and people trying to do nice options but without us, he can also be an ass!! And I love him for it! He's lovable!

I love a lot about this man. The fact he's jokes to be an obsessed Jack fan but he can be so critical about the man. He isn't like those dudes who put on masks. He gets closer than anyone to Jack. It's important to his character to see it. He had to bend his morale to stay in Hyperion for so long yet he can try to help others too and even get a crush during that, trying to be respectful.

He's quirky, loving horrible taste of Frogurts, getting that ball and trying his best to show he still can hack in BL3. He tries to be a hard and respected boss in new tales but also, does his best not to be a tyrant.

He's my fav character from the series. I love his design and I'm so mad we don't see him in that black outfit more cus he rocks that shit sm. And he also rocks the moustache. It's just the bl3 model giving him injustice sjsjwh

As I said before, romantic relations are hard for me to exactly imagine but. Jack. Timothy. Katagawa Jr. Zer0. This guy can have it all.

His friendship with Vaughn, Fiona and Loader Bot are awesome. I also love how much he cares for Dumpy and Timm E. He is a softie for bots. And like the fact Anu's goggles also have their own personality (before Octavio adds his programming in) - it's so cool to me. Haha hi Jack's thoughts stop looking at me he maybe was inspired by those

My unpopular opinion about this character

He is STRONG. fork.haha. No but for real - this man lost his job and immediately went to make a revenge and does it, going to a dangerous planet. He talks back to Jack, he tries to fight with his stun button without any training before. He rips his eye off. He has to get Atlas from grounds up, without Marcus help and he does it. He controls Gortys at the moment of need. He tries not to become Jack while being a strong lead of his company.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

He has his soft moments. He had a soft spot for Sasha and while I don't think their relationship works out, it's supposed to represent that need of achievement for freedom. She is assertive and strong and he likes and wants that. He's just not what she needs. And I hope in the future, he will move on from her. And maybe meet Tim, it would be interesting.

But also, I want to learn about his tattoo sm. Why give it to him and not talk about it PLEASE GUYS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

And pls don't... Don't decay like Vaughn did... Please......
