Snakes. He got bit once when he was a kid, and he’s had a healthy hatred for/fear of them ever since.

Drury Lane | May, 1799
The stage was velvet black except for the two lamps she had set out downstage and the lantern Eleanor carried, like she was stepping out of a scene of the Scottish play. Among the set pieces for Midsummer were props and pieces of costumes, all scattered about without a care.
Eleanor was wearing a king’s vest over Cleopatra’s dress, Dorine’s feather duster in her other hand. A mask hung haphazardly to the side from a string around her head, giving her the appearance of having two faces.
“I hope you have your lines memorized,” she said to her new friend as she set down the lamp between the other two. “This crowd seems very tough.” A hand waved toward the empty seats, probably filled with theater ghosts. Every stage had one, and Drury Lane must’ve had an audience worth.

diner: our muses eat at a 24 hour diner
London, 1799 Just before 2am
Hedwig’s Tea Room held the strangest hours, in that it was open for all of them. Lucy slipped through the door and shook off the rain from her cloak, pulling back the hood to reveal rich, auburn hair. She glanced back at Freddie in the small vestibule, and grinned.
It had been ages since they’d come here.
Swept into the tea room, music playing on a baroque lute from a darkened corner, the two were ushered to a table along the side of the main room. Coffee procured, a plate of biscuits placed. Lucy cracked into one, a little too wine-soaked to care about the generous helping of butter and jam she placed onto it. “Dinner was lacking,” she commented, taking a look at the chalk-written menu. “I’m famished.”
Graham would join them, or likely wouldn’t. He never came to Hedwig’s, preferring his own adventures. The candlelight glowed red in the glass that encased it around the room, each table flickering. Lucy smiled at Freddie. Only fondness could bring out the apples of her cheeks.
“I want the chicken, I think. And maybe the duck. Would you help me eat the potatoes gratin?”

“oh, this one’s bound to get me in all sorts of trouble . . . i think . . . summon eira, banish marie, and absorb isabella? eira’s always down for a good time, marie wouldn’t want to spend any time around me anyways, and bella and i are so alike that i think absorbing her wouldn’t change so much of me. it’s all very logical.” ( @bodiceripped @mariekenworthy @isabella-aldwyn )
