I know most people are going to be like “huh what” since I don’t post enough worldbuidling stuff on here but I’m changing the alleged bottom/body of Hellmouth to “Abaton” rather than Tartarus. I like how that sounds better.
(Hellmouth is a common name for the massive split/leveled abyss/mother of trenches in the middle of Mors Astra’s ocean where all the leviathans/saints live and supposedly guard Abaton. These levels are what I often mention as ‘Depth Charges’ in some creatures descriptions I write)
I know it’s mostly just continuity nods, but seeing so many of the characters’ ancestors has me asking questions.
In-universe, do most people inherit their teams? Like is Saturn’s Toxicroak the great great… granddaughter of Coin’s? Mars’ Purugly descended from Arezu’s? Is it common to inherit a team like that? (Is that to say that if Lucas/Dawn weren’t the protagonist and hadn’t received a starter from Rowan, their starter would’ve been a Glameow? That Calem/Serena would’ve otherwise gotten a Rhyhorn?)
In the case of gym leaders and their families, we have precedent in Falkner inheriting his father’s Pokémon. Janine and Koga teams both share three Pokémon (Crobat, Ariados and Venomoth), and Janine definitely inherited the gym leader position. If her Pokémon aren’t the descendants of Koga’s they’re at least tied to the Fuchsia gym. (Does this mean that had Brendan/May would’ve had a Slakoth as their starter if they weren’t the protagonist?)
Or is it rather are the descendants recreating their ancestors’ teams in their honor? We know for a fact that Wally catches his own Ralts instead of inheriting one. He also later goes on to use Roselia/Roserade and Magneton/Magnezone like Beni does. (With Cynthia, I’m leaning bit more to recreation that inheritance but couldn’t say for sure.)
Obviously, this isn’t universally true. Cheryl uses high HP Pokémon, with Chansey/Blissey as her signature Pokémon unlike Sabi’s Rhyperior/Magmortar/Electivire combo. There’s also Barry, who makes his own team that has no connection to his father’s Milotic/Dragonite/Rhyperior trio.

I like to imagine the powder kegs to be a very welcoming/warm group to be a part of despite their rough and explosive techniques. So this makes the tragedy of Old Yharnam even more heartbreaking for me dgjdhd but its kind of bittersweet thinking of Djura and his last 2 companions sticking together and dedicating the rest of their lives defending old Yharnam. (Until his disciple succumbs to the Nightmare, leaving those 2 alone💔😔I like to think his disciple was like a nephew to em both :"( )
For their specific relationship tho, I like to think ally has stuck with him throughout their entire career together, sort of like a right-hand man :") hrngg they're both old n tired n sad but they have each other </3 (well... until the hunter comes.... BUT, not in my games😎 I never had the heart to kill either of them😤😎💯🔥😭)

Back in the day when they were colleagues, Brador first took interest of him bc... he used a bow?? Bc he just thought he looked interesting??? Idk tbh but he did okay LOL. Then he started annoying him like the lil shit he is. Eventually tho, they build a genuine relationship where theyd go drink together and talk about work or smth (in very cryptic ways bc its bloodborne and they all talk like that).
But in these convos, I feel like Simon would start bringing up his doubts about all this, about the church, about their jobs. Brador's outlook of it all is... they've already done so much. What happens in the end doesn't concern them. All he has to do is his part (Largely bc I feel his loyalty to Laurence overrides anything else). This builds a really tense relationship down the line bc as much as they may ultimately enjoy each other's company, Brador feels Simon is crossing a line, and Simon knows Brador stands with the Church.
I think Brador gets taken into the Nightmare first before anything escalated back in Yharnam though. One day after a huge unknown beast sOmEHOW appeared in the Cathedral, Brador disappeared as well. If Simon asked about it, he would be told he died in the attack (or smth idk💀). I feel this (and a LOT of other headcanons I have) would be another reason for Simon to turn on the church, and really start to figure out its secrets.
...you can imagine how he feels when they meet again.
Heres this rly well written fic about them!! I don't personally have all those hcs in the fic about Simon n stuff, but I do rly enjoy how op wrote their interactions. (Pretty much exactly how I see em talk to each other lol)

so like a bajillion years ago (4 it was 4 years ago lmao) i started shipping hallura with aymeric and tbh i’ve never quite been able to let go of that family fantasy i have for them...even though since then i’ve sliced hallura’s fertility into bits with nifty new lore and then there’s this cool ot3 thing that hurts me a lot to think about but more on that another time
BUT hallura/aymeric babies...in a perfect world i always see them having two children, an older daughter (rania, for hallura’s mother) and a younger son (skylar, for which i have yet to figure out why but that’s the name i Want) both of whom inherit their parents’ black hair and their father’s blue eyes. i actually wrote it into hallura’s lore that she had their daughter before perishing to black rose in the eight umbral calamity timeline....love that for g’raha getting to read about it!!!
and i love these babies SO MUCH rania is a sharp-tongued, incessantly observant socialite who can stun full-grown adults with her wit before she’s ten years old; most of ishgard firmly believes she’s on track to become a politician much like her father, except much more scary because she got hallura’s bluntness and disdain for beating around the bush. and then skylar, who turns out to be every bit the spitfire his sister is, but instead of politics takes up arms to follow in his mother’s footsteps; he’s brash and overconfident (only his sister can really put him in his place) and he has a bit of a complex because of his famous parentage, but he’s ride or die for the people and places he loves.
they grow up so loved...god they grow up so loved, hallura knows what it’s like to grow up in a country that’s not really your own (re:ala mhigo -> limsa lominsa) and aymeric knows what it’s like to grow up alone with rumors and expectations always hanging over his head (re: his entire parentage arc). both of them are fiercely protective of their children’s happiness and rumors/gossip/mockery are Not Tolerated at all. i believe aymeric never thought about having his own children, was more interested in maybe adopting a successor to his house, but hallura has wanted to be a mother so badly from the time she lost her family, and her passion for a family is what inspires aymeric to want one for himself, too.
but i just think about rania and skylar a LOT and how rania always has her hair done up in little buns to show off her cute pointed ears and how skylar always comes home with a new scrape on his knee and a story for his mother, and how they’ll take trips to la noscea to spend winters at their grandmother’s farm under the gentle sun, and rania learning how to fly from skylar who’s an adrenaline junkie just like hallura, and them sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace while hallura brushes skylar’s hair and aymeric reads to rania....I LOVE THEM and sometimes i get really sad that i took this away from hallura sdlkjgfsdklfjlg
in the future though...my mind hath turned to ot3 things and maybe a family is still in the works for hallura/g’raha/aymeric after all
How do you feel about a theory that (real) Iosefka worked with School of Mensis at some point? It sprouted with how you find her trademark potion in Nightmare of Mensis but I honestly believe it - her blood vials are said to be unique in how perfectly purified they are, so maybe she was working on cleansing the curse of beasthood as well, AND school of Mensis, shady as they are, is STILL a higher echelon of the Healing Church... Maybe she found the hard way there was a difference between drinking a 'blood without downsides' AND 'cleansing' blood of a living being, so she ditched the ordeal! But also one could crop it to her, as a church girl, giving her vial to Edgar upon parting or god knows what else. We don't even know if Fauxsefka, as a doctor, took Iosefka's white church clothes for conspiration OR she was wearing them originally for SURE ._. And what do you think?
Oh I absolutely believe real Iosefka was a part of mensis. Unfortunately I dont have too many thoughts on them yet😭😭 but right now I completely agree with your description!! I imagine her time there was really uncomfortable. She was friendly but kept as much distance as possible from majority of students while working on her own studies. Perhaps this is where she got some of her first patients from?? Maybe stowed away a few kidnapped souls when she dipped and brought them back to her clinic(???) That may be a stretch but its an idea😭!!
Mm I dont personally think she gave it to Edgar?? I think she already left the healing church by then and has been at mensis for a bit(???). Oh... actually now that I think about it, maybe?? But I'd imagine Edgar wouldn't just leave it in some weirdly placed chest... actually why is it in some random chest there....
I looked it up and some theories say someone regularly visted her and brought it for mergo possibly??? I can see that but if Iosefka really was at mensis for a bit, I can imagine someone stealing it from her at some point....
And oh man fr tho with fauxsefka, she freaks me out so much bc of this😭😭. I always thought she was just from the church but i havent rly thought about it before... Because at least if she was from the church, she had a place to start with these experiments. I find it even more terrifying if she was able to figure all this stuff out without being apart of the bigger institutions🤯😰.

By the way, I see you also think that statue on the runes memorizing altar is relevant to Caryll... But the last time I checked, the same statue was found in the Cainhurst, and also couples of same statues (but with lantern) are in the dungeons where you find runes so uhhhh okay I smoked this idea: there is actual substance for time travelling! No, seriously - sound in Bloodborne seems to cross time and space, as shown by the bells being able to summon living hunters into Nightmare and even dead hunters back to help with the hunt and... apparently make Brador's younger version play tags with you in Fishing Hamlet... And runes ARE recorded trandescental sounds! So we might not even know the extent of what Caryll did. Heck, maybe etching runes on the Clockwork watch (and adding mysterious unnamed rune too) was her way to fiddle with time passage in Yharnam, so they stand more chance to keep Yharnam from Loran's fate until someone finally throws Moon Presence off haha! Seriously Caryll can be one of the coolest conundrums in the lore, trying to help people from beyond time and space but subtly. And what do you think about her???
Bruh I feel like I'm gaining insight LMAO. I knew a bit about the bells and transcending time n space thing, BUT I DIDN'T CONSIDER CARYLL UTILIZING THIS!! You are so right, I really, REALLY enjoy this idea of her doing so much "behind-the-scenes" work. Especially with how much of an impact this could have been for everything. It would make her such an unappreciated character!! With no one realizing how much more "manageable" she made the situation fhkdhfkjahf (if she really did do smth like this).
This makes me really want a story/comic on her hrnngg. It'd be so cool to follow her whole process of making these runes and how she affects everything! I think I'm going to try drawing some of this :")
Also, I know the statues appear in other locations as well but dhfjkhsf idk maybe she got around y'know😭? Becoming sort of a figure of "luck"(??) in the dungeons... or smth. Or perhaps they believed having this statue of her would help with the flow of time/space???? Idk this is all I can come up with to justify it😭💔
