a meek retail worker. randy is the regretted child of two idiots trying to fix their failing marriage. honestly, his birth made it worse. randy spent most of his childhood listening to his parents yelling at each other through the floorboards and trying to figure out why he was so different from his peers. (spoiler alert: autism)
randy was always closer to his uncle than his father and according to his father, he genuinely resembled his uncle more than him. this led to randy's father believing randy was actually his brother's child and worsening his already terrible marriage because he refused to listen to the evidence put in his face. it also gave him a general disdain for his own son.
on his 14th birthday, randy's father realised his son was legally allowed to work, and with how badly the family was doing money-wise since he lost his job, he did a 100% totally normal thing; force his freshly 14 year old son to work, of course! unfortunately, randy had the social skills of a fucking spoon and was terrible at almost everything so he was hopping between part time jobs until he landed a decent one at a retail store. then he turned 18 and they started overworking him because he wasn't protected by child labor laws. lol. (said retail store is the main focus of my oc storyline fun fact.... shit goes downnnnnn in there)
his father cared more about the money randy brought in than his well being. whenever anything happened to randy that made him unable to work, he told him to just get over it. tired of his father's poor treatment of both of him and his mother, randy started wondering how his life would be without him in the picture. this isn't to say randy liked his mother, oh no. he disliked her on a lesser scale, even feeling sorry for her at times but sadly, she was somewhat of an enabler of her husband's behavior.
as a teenager, randy is a sensitive, painfully boring loner. despite this, he is also painfully honest and 'accidentally' rude. he struggles to make friends in the time period he and elliott are seperated because he just doesn't know how to communicate. his only friends are his co-workers and they barely count; he doesn't speak with them outside of work. he is autistic, schizophrenic (both undiagnosed) and has ocd (diagnosed, usually existential ocd). he is farsighted but refuses to wear his glasses outside the house because he hates how they look, (probably because they're taped together due to "circumstances" according to him) however by 1989, he's wearing his glasses fulltime after getting a contact lens-induced infection. (I FUCKING LOVE USELESS DETAILS) he has short brown hair that is usually greasy and/or messy as he literally never has time to wash it. he is nicknamed "fish" because he always looks like a fish out of water, or like it's his first day on earth.
as an adult, randy is a high school teacher. coincidentally, one of his new students just so happens to be the daughter of his now-estranged 'buddy', elliott. being reminded of his existence leads randy down a rabbit hole of learning what elliott's been up to lately that eventually devolves into him spending 90% of the time he has off work basically stalking him, to the point he calls in pretending to be sick just to dedicate more time into his totally normal hobby.
once caught, he tries to claim he's just looking out for elliott, that he's 'concerned for his health' (this sounds bat wild without context trust me this would actually be reasonable in context of my oc lore) but he's not fooling anyone, especially elliott.
by 2006, his schizophrenia and autism are actually diagnosed, joyous occassion ! he looks mostly the same, acts mostly the same. being around teenagers 5 days a week for years on end has made him considered ending it all right there and then. his appearance is slightly tidier, and he's not walking around in taped together glasses anymore, obviously. also how have i wrote multiple paragraphs on randy without bringing up the benadryl addiction. side rant: when randy was 16 (in abt 1984), he took benadryl for his insomnia but accidentally took too much and lowkey kinda liked what he saw so he just kept doing it. ok moving on !

a painfully stereotypical rich jock. elliott is the son between one of the richest men in the state and a widely beloved model, a blossoming relationship that fell through in elliott's infancy. he doesn't remember what happened between his parents, it stressed his young mind out so much he forgot about it quickly and went mute for a while, but from the moment he started communicating again, his father told him a fabricated reason his mother left .. and that (unintentionally) sprung a new hobby for elliott; completely lying!
at first, elliott was just telling the story his father told him about his parent's seperation and his mother leaving—he didn't know that was bullshit in his defense—but the older he got, the more he made up about his life. elliott's home life was weird. his father was strange and in ell's words: 'loved him too much', his stepmother was distant and he had a little brother he was a wee bit overprotective of. he's never elaborated on his homelife to other people. to everyone else, his dad is just that one really rich guy and the other two don't even exist. if only they knew what really goes on between elliott and his father.
elliott's backstory is a lot more expanded and a lot more heavier than randy's, so because of that i'm excluding it for now and will write a whole doc on it at a later point. ok? ok.
as a teenager, elliott was a dick. straight up. he sucks. he always has been, from the second he started speaking again he was evil. despite this, he was like the second coming of christ in high school. he was always popular in school but high school was a new peak for him. elliott was the guy who singlehandedly revived the popularity of the school's dying wrestling team; the guy who threw or backed every party thrown; the guy who's life is so fucking grand... allegedly. in the summer of 1988, elliott starts acting 'off'. no one can put their finger on why, but his worst behaviors become slightly more amplified as time progresses. he has antisocial personality disorder, is on prozac for a reason he's never specified and has a tendency to try and hook up with people twice his age. he always has a deadpan look in his eyes, and he has kief's (i know him like that) sectoral heterochromia but it's a bit more prominent #yay. he has random cuts and marks on his face all the time, whenever you think two cut has healed about three more have appeared. his front teeth are chipped. he has chin length blond hair that's so overcleaned it's probably doing more worse than good.
as an adult, elliott has taken over his father's business. a business he didn't actually know about until he was 22, a chain of famous adult venues around the state. he couldn't care less about them, he just likes money and the attention it brings him.
with randy's whole stalking thing, he honestly likes it more than he admits. attention is attention to elliott, especially from randy. he knows randy just wanted to see him again and that he doesn't 'care for his health' at all, though elliott has been having some 'health issues' lately. they seem to be worsening in randy's presence. weird.
by 2006, he's still not public about the happenings of his formative years or his mental problems. he has shorter hair that he still overwashes and he looks tired all the time. also he looks like he eats people. what that means is for me to know and you to Maybe find out. Hi . elliott has had an on and off alcoholism problem since his late teens / early adulthood. also i dont know where to put this but hes a whore (lovingly) heart emoji. moving on !
their relationship —
1973 — 2006
randy and elliott met when they were 5 and 6 respectively. randy was one of the first friends elliott had made since he started speaking again, elliott was the first friend randy had made ever. elliott was always slightly mean to randy, stealing his toys, calling him names, typical kid stuff, though it got worse after 2 years. when elliott was 8, he changed. he stopped caring when randy was sad, he grew a bit distant for a little while, stopped inviting him around for sleepovers and asked randy questions he didn't understand until he was laying awake at night years later thinking about them.
when they were in middle school, they used to practice kissing on each other. this is a fact they have both agreed to never talk about ever again. safe to say they were each other's gay awakening. around middle school and early high school, elliott's mocking of randy only worsened, occassionally making up rumors about him and telling him to lighten up when confronted about it. despite all this, elliott was always trying to sabotage randy's new possible friendships. randy saw this as elliott being completely evil which, not that far off but it was really because elliott wanted randy all to himself.
after years of their friendship turning more strained (and gayer at the same time), randy decided to cut randy off when they were 15 and 16. a decision that only lastest 2 years, but still happened nonetheless. randy got over it quickly but elliott was more hung up over it. buying a whole journal just to write 30 pages complaining about how he missed randy and dating a girl who looked like him, acted like him and even had the same initials. sure, close enough.
2 years later, randy was dragged to a party by a friend he managed to make. said party was thrown by elliott. whoops! once elliott spotted randy at his party they argued, went up to elliott's room to argue more and ended up angrily making out, like all straight guys do. trust! elliott took advantage of this situation by striking up a deal, a weird deal at that; as long as randy becomes his friend again, he won't tell anyone about this. an absolutely terrible plan but randy accepted it anyway.
being together again proves to be one of the worst things that could've happened to the either of them. they're simultaneously hating on each other and extremely dependent on one another. they're each other's outlet for frustration, always allowing the other to vent their anger out in a multitude of ways. the two of them even bordered on friends with benefits sometimes. randy ended up developing a casual crush on elliott that he considered an at-home lobotomy over, elliott on the otherhand had a worsening obsession with randy. even going back to his age old habit of ruining all of the other's friendships just so he had no one to go to but him. or his co-workers but randy would rather die than hang out with them.
you know it's really hard to condense their 1980s lore into one post that isn't like 45 paragraphs. i have to skip a lot of shit. i've gotta make a whole lengthy ass novel size post talking abt these two. erm. anyway. heres something actually pretty important that i can't leave out; in 1988, randy and elliott were at a party thrown by *checks notes* elliott, yeah that tracks. randy started talking about how his father would want him home soon, any later and he'd beat randy's ass the second he stepped through the door. this sends elliott on a whole rant about how much he hates randy's father, ending it with “if you killed his ass, you'd probably get off on justifiable homicide, man.”
randy didn't think much of what elliott said until later that night when he finally got home and was immediately pulled into a heated argument by his dad. mid exchange, he remembered what elliott said and did his dad's head in with a small statue on the living room shelf. frantically, he called elliott like he would have any idea on how to cover up a murder. apparently, he did. randy doesn't know what elliott did exactly, but he woke up the day after and there was zero trace of his father. strange.
the two of them care for each other in their own weird ways. randy is a lot more open about it compared to the other, elliott's limited emotional range makes his responses to randy's troubles pretty barebones but he tries, he really does. randy really wishes elliott would be comfortable enough to tell him what he's been through, though while he's pushy about it occasionally, he atleast respects elliott's boundary and waits for when elliott is comfortable enough to tell him.
(even bigger) cracks start showing in their relationship a few months after the death of randy's father and after a terrible event in randy's life (that i can't elaborate on rn cuz it'd make this post 100x times longer) which causes him to distance himself from everyone, mainly elliott. elliott doesn't like this (even though he did the same exact thing like 10 years ago) and starts to get mad at randy yet basically beg him to hang out at the same time. he gets pretty desperate to see randy that it reaches pretty unhealthy levels.
they eventually leave each other again by 1989 after a rough fight over elliott's then boyfriend, randy's random distance and elliott's sudden odd-er behavior that ended in a physical altercation. not that they've never laid hands on each other, they have. and each time has ended with randy getting his ass beat and this time was no different. problematic strength gap relationship.
while sitting silently on the hood of elliott's car, randy, through a nose stuffed with tissue, tells elliott that he thinks they should go their seperate ways. that brings out a side to elliott that he's never seen; whiny, desperate and begging for randy not to leave him again. randy walks away, leaving elliott alone. that was the last time they saw each other for the next 17 years.
randy spends the next nearly two decades flip flopping between 'that was the best decision of my life' and 'holy fuck i miss my wife'. elliott spends them yearning so bad. in 2006, as you read earlier i assume, randy becomes one of the high school teachers for elliott's daughter which eventually leads to him to stalking elliott.
elliott ends up finding out where randy lives—a bit of mutual stalking how cute—and pulling up to his house. randy comes up a terrible excuse; elliott doesn't buy it. the two become friends again. okay the word friends genuinely doesn't fit here i think they are bordering on unofficial boyfriends sometimes
whatever's been wrong with elliott for the past 18 years gets even worse now that he's back in randy's presence. preferring to stay at his dingy one person cottage than his own mansion, sometimes even appearing at randy's house at odd hours. he coaches his child to purposefully act up at school just so he can come in and talk to randy. the most suspicious of all: he's actually kind of nice to randy sometimes. holy shit . don't worry don't worry, he's still a complete asshole to him despite all this 😛
erm. Ok im actually like genuinely out of ways to explain the rest of their story cuz its so attached to my oc storyline which is abt them sure but its not mainly them. if i explained all that rlly quickly it'd still take like atleast 8 more paragraphs and i wanna keep this to just them to Uhhhh fuck summary go: even more toxic yaoi somehow featuring men pushing 40 and demonic possession. god bless ! Also one of them dies because fuck you . um. if the masses care i'll make a full oc storyline post but it'll be like 20x longer than this one and ik damnwell no one reading allat
for funsies (and lowk a peek into elliotts lore): here's their spotify playlists yay
