I forgot if you answered this already but what happens when one of the idols is destroyed
“Well I suppose I can have ‘ol Geshie obliterate this conversation from your memory after I’m done with you, so guess theres time for some Idol chatter…”
“Think of our Idols as…lifelines. Bodies made of flesh are soft and squishy as I’m certain you livestock are all too familiar with. But stone is tough and durable! Some stone can last for millions, maybe even *billions* of years! Especially if it’s the stone we used. Chipped from the shell of Ki themself. Hard stuff! Carving those little guys into our likeness was not an easy task, mind you.”
“But our idols aren’t just strong rocks. You see, we are soul bound to these sturdy little guys. Meaning that we are our idols and our idols are us. It’s like having a clone who always has your back. If one of us goes down, we can count on our idol to take over the process and revive us. Not only are they lifelines, they also serve as a battery of sorts! Your suffering keeps them fed, and boy are they HUNGRY lil guys!”
“As long as the Wells stay full, they stay fed, and we stay powerful.”
“Truth is I don’t really *know* what would happen if our Idols somehow got destroyed. Maybe we’d turn into sad little mortals or maybe we’d explode into confetti. Who knows. Who cares. It’s never happened. And never will.”
its like 130 am but i’ve decided to share some lore. this is fine
anyways under the cut is the most common religion in farraige and aerandir’s world (world name uh. still pending)
(also this is text heavy but i’ve split it into sections so u dont have to read like. all of it)
The Religion of Draconism
The belief that ancient dragons created and shaped the world, and after their time as gods passed, they left their magic energy to fill all of existence
Dragons of today are treated as sacred animals to those who believe in draconism. It is believed that the ancient dragons created these beings in their image, gifting them with the most potent arcane energy. Harming or killing a dragon is considered heresy
While the ancient dragons are believed to no longer have any solid form, draconists believe that their spirits live on in the energy of the universe, and therefore pray and revere them. there are rituals, offerings, and celebrations in honor of the dragon gods
The Dragon Gods
The Elementalist
The Sigilmaster
The Great Spark
The Elementalist - they had the power of all elements and brought to existence earth, water, fire, air, light, shadow, etc. from the shining sun to the glowing moon, all of nature was built on the foundation of their elemental power. Any time a firefly glows, a waterfall roars, or a dragon breathes fire, that is the gift and power of the elementalist.
The Sigilmaster - the wisest of the dragons who brought forth order and chaos. they had the power of law and knowledge, giving all that lived the ability to think and feel, as well as giving existence the way of things now only discovered by science. the power of words and spoken language is also considered their gift.
The Great Spark - The most powerful of the ancient dragons. They gifted the very fabric of existence to the world; life and death is their gift. They weaved together the indescribable energy that makes things exist as they are. It is believed the ever flowing pure energy of every living thing, every existing thing, is created and interconnected by the great spark's power.
"Departing Gifts"
these were small symbols each dragon god left onto the world as a sign of their personal gifts and power; smaller than what they gave as a whole but substantial and holding importance and sentiment enough to be honored and acknowledged.
the elementalist left elemental weapons found in dragons and other magical creatures
the sigilmaster left the craft of sigils to be used by the people of the world
the great spark left unique markings for each race of the world, including the draconic mark
Magic
as the ultimate final gift, the three gods combined all that they were and all their power to bring magic into the universe. it is believed all of arcana and magical energy is thanks to them. from the smallest spell, to a unicorn’s divine light, to a master sorcerer; all magic was their final gift to existence.
