This week we’re looking at color.
These pieces are by Lori Hersberger, a Swiss artist based out of Zurich. Here’s an excerpt from his bio:
“Lori Hersberger’s art stresses the opposition between the world of illusion and that of reality, yet at the same time alludes to the space between them. In this sense, his works are both sublime and grotesque – a combination that is also clearly expressed in his current exhibitions.”
If we just look at the use of color, we see that the use of neon intensifies the color as a focal point in itself. The blending of various points of light also creates a gradients as each colored ray intersects another.
At times, Hersberger’s work radiates a dystopian sensibility, and at other times, an inviting, if dangerous playfulness.
