Full Name: Lucy Henrietta Marie Argencourt, Archduchess of Farnley
Age: 21
lucy will be the first to admit that she was too young to remember most of her turbulent past.
her mother died in childbirth and her father died of a fever not long after
she has absolutely no memory of farnley, having never been back since she was a baby.
her earliest memories are of being in catalonia, though she isn’t sure if they’re real or if she made everything up from stories people told her
knows, regardless, that she loved Felix Godolphin as a father, even for the short time they were together.
she was five when the waynfletes took control of catalonia. she remembers snippets from the uprising, but not much until dot told her she wouldn’t see felix again.
she also remembers dot not letting her out of her sight for weeks following the uprising.
and then, one day, her childhood companions were gone and it was just her and dot alone in Valliere,
doesn’t remember life not being a (well treated) hostage in catalonia, but remembers the day she realized exactly what her situation in life was
dot has always tried to protect her, keep her happy, make sure she was never harmed in anyway, but didn’t shield her entirely from things, for which lucy is grateful.
speaking of dot, she is the most important person in lucy’s life
honestly lucy probably had no idea exactly everything her sister had done for her?
even though the pair has been treated well both by the godolphins and now the waynfletes, lucy never trusted anyone as much as dot.
and hates that she’s going to have to marry into the family that killed their own surrogate parents.
as a child, she had rather idealistic visions of their future...
believed at some point the godolphins would return, take back the thrown, and free both the sisters
(except not really for dot but w/e, lucy was like 11.)
obvi that hasn’t happened and even the rumors of the godolphins reemerging haven’t rekindled that romantic vision of knights in shining armor coming to the rescue in lucy
she had always been a rather active, free spirit who spent her childhood climbing to the tops of trees, jumping into the sea without a thought, and sword fighting with the boys
she calmed a bit as she grew older, but continued to have a bit of a wild streak
began playing piano at a young age and became quite accomplished.
often (somewhat secretly) tended to play songs to fit the mood of whatever company she currently kept. often it would become quite dramatic.
as she reached the age when many other girls her age were becoming engaged, she began slowly realizing that her life didn’t get to end up the way she’d always hoped.
she’d live in the castle alongside dot and the waynfletes until the end of her days, as allowing her to marry and have children could lead to the potential of an uprising in the future, should the citizens of farnley rally behind them.
with dot and david’s children being the only successors, there would be no chance of farnley switching their allegiances
the idea that this would be her lot in life caused lucy to sink into a depression and much of her spark seemed to be extinguished.
and when she came down with a fever a little over a year ago, she honestly felt like there was no point in fighting.
she knew it was selfish, but she honestly was at peace with just slipping away in the grips of the fever
but she heard christopher’s voice
even though he had arrived with the waynfletes to act as david’s usher, she’d always had a fondness for him.
he’d spend hours listening to her play piano and always managed to make her smile
she thought she was hallucinating when she heard him speaking to her at her bedside but knew it was real when he grasped her hand and begged her to come back to him.
she fully believes if christopher had not come to her bedside that night, she would have died. once she was well enough, she told him exactly that. he has been by her side as much as possible ever since.
his proposal came as soon as she was well enough to walk into the gardens with him-- her favorite place.
her recovery was long and she isn’t the same, active woman she once was. the doctors have claimed the fever has weakened her and she must take care not to overly exert herself.
despite this, she is still travelling with the party to see Arabella crowned queen of Avenia.
the trip which may allow her to finally be free of the waynfletes, should all go according to plan.
