Winter thought: What if, due to his albinism, Winter has light sensitivity in his eyes?
I heard eyesight problems are common in both people and animals with albinism. I’m not sure how severe it could get (it getting worse as they grow older or straight up blindness) though.
This could also partially explain why Winter was a fearful gorilla; fire, explosions and bright daylight burning his eyes and temporarily blinding him, I mean. It makes sense that he’d feel especially vulnerable by that.
I also think Winter has a lot of insecurities relating to his albinism and him being a gorilla. He strikes me as someone who wants to be a strong protector but doesn’t know how to and doesn’t believe he could be.
Me, every so often, waking up at 3am and remembering that the POTA movies exist:

The fanfic is called Grow Back Your Sharpest Teeth (You Know My Desire), or GBYST for short, and it will be posted on here and ao3!
Summary: 'In a world taken over by apes, a woman named Rue breaks free from a toxic relationship and escapes into the forest. Little does she know, she's not alone.'
The story will include some dark themes like S/A, misogyny, abuse, violence, and death, (but only shown mostly in the first chapter), so reader discretion is advised.
I will post the first chapter sometime around August 12th.
Until then, I will keep writing and I will post things about the story such as the characters, my oc, the plot, etc.
Rise of the Planet of the apes turns 15 years old today!! crazy that it's been that long already. It was my introduction to POTA (I didn't know about the original movies until high school lmao) and I remember watching it as a kid with my family so it holds a special place in my heart <3
Anyway, here's some Caesar art. The first one's been sitting on my laptop for a while but I wasn't happy with it so I changed the background to the second one which I like a lot more :p The little figures representing the apes are from the Caesar's Story book

What it Trevathan had collected some CD’s and other music media from decades past and sometimes played them for Proxy? He’d explain that humans used to sing songs and others would record them to dance to or sing along to.
Knowing Proximus, he falls in love with the concept and quickly demands his kingdom adopts the practice. That, and he makes Trevathan play music and dance with him. Trevathan likes it because it’s the one time he feels free and like a true equal to the apes.
Proxy also makes his guards dance with them too. Lightning has the time of his life but Sylva would only dance if and only if it were on Proxy’s command. He’s not amused in the slightest but can’t say no to his king.
