“Truthfully I’ve written like 3 or 4 songs, but it — like for this next record — but just to take you up to speed, there’s often a time before making a record where the first 15 or 20 songs, 9 times out of 10, are kind of disposable in such a way that that’s the experimental phase of the album. I’ve started thinking about the record, but to be honest, I wanted to get through the rest of this year. I think I’ll really start giving it some proper thought probably at the tail end of this year. I wanna have enough life experience and I want to let the rest of the world in until I start giving it that kind of thought.”

It was to have the luxury of a bit of space in my brain and a bit of time to digest what the next record might look like. That helped me a lot. There was an element of— when I first made my first record, even though it took a long time— I felt like I was constantly against the clock. It was a nice feeling to be able to have enough time to have a bit of a bird’s eye view of Faith In The Future and what that might be. As a whole, the most important thing to me was that the whole thing felt positive. The title, Faith In The Future, came before I had written any of the other songs. that was the intention, just to make everything feel a little lighter, a little bit more positive.

“I think I would — don’t get me wrong I feel like I’ve built up a certain identity with Faith In The Future and that’s really important to me, but there will be an element of this album that will feel — I want to be a little bit braver sonically. I think Faith In The Future feels like an evolution of Walls which I think is great, it would be nice to introduce just some slightly different sounds than what I’ve done right now. In terms of specifics, I don’t really know, but I’m trying to keep an open mind in terms of how this record might sound.”

“Yeah, I think normally, it’s one of our, I think Michael, my lead guitarist, he has some kind of playlist that we kind of listen to before every show. It’s not my place, I don’t know exactly what’s on there, but it always kind of gets you pumped for the gig, so yeah, I suppose that’s like one of the little rituals that we do.”

“Yeah well it’s an idea I had now, I’d had it for a while even before we actually did the first version of it. I’m a big festival fan as a listener and as a fan I’ve had many great musical experiences there so to be able to create something like that was always quite important to me. There was definitely a time where I thought it was maybe too ambitious, and it is an ambitious thing to pull of, but yeah it’s something I’m really really proud of. I’ve been doing it for quite a few years now, I think every single year it gets bigger and bigger. Yeah, it is time for it to come to Chile, for sure, for sure. Just not yet.”

"You always want to put on a show that represents the size of the room that you're in, if I'd done the same stage production as my first tour for this tour, it just wouldn't have felt right. It's gotta feel a certain level. I'm not also about loads of bells and whistles, I think we do a lot together- the atmospheres at the shows is so poignant. Don't get me wrong- the stage design is definitely a massive level up from last year, but I think the beauty is in what we [himself & fans] have."
