So I found this “This is what scientists thought in the 1930s” wackiness at an antique store.

Bought it specifically for “Airplane attacking beached plesiosaurs”

Wikipedia showed me an article on the mythical land of mu, which i'd heard of before, but never really read about.

A lost continent in the pacific ocean meant as the start of human civilization.

Most of it is ridiculous, but what I am struck by is that most of it is just about polynesia.

The location, legends, symbols, and so on, but does this 'theory' acknowledge that? Oh no of course not

See, lemurians were a 'superior white civilization' and polysenians are just savages that survived the cataclysm that sank the continent.

It appeared came about when some white explorer dudes found some old ruins and artifacts and mistraslated them to find something that better suited their racist brains.

And a bunch of white dudes since then have contributed to the lore.
