I’m afraid I can’t recommend the pastime, but I’m doing fine. My main issue is discovering just how often I absent-mindedly rest my chin on my hand... that’s not going to be comfortable for a while.

I should wind up with an excellent scar running more or less parallel to my childhood scar-under-my-chin (don’t run on tile floors in socks, kids!).

Anyway, it was really sweet of  y’all to send good wishes and I am very grateful. <3

I am really quite lucky to be related to the artist, who will probably make me another mug (and who wants her work to be used, even though that means sometimes it gets broken).

But I hate losing things I cherish, especially when it’s arguably due to my own carelessness. So it helped to make a cry of ARGH and have so many respond. <3

(And maybe my cat is a budding physicist? He sure likes studying the effects of gravity. On a variety of objects. If they make interesting noises when they hit the floor that is definitely a plus.)

Wow, these are three really wonderful people wishing me a happy birthday. It’s been a good day. Clio gave me sparkly earrings and board games and baked a carrot applesauce cake, there were dogs at work I could play with, free pizza at a union meeting, and now I’m watching Critical Role. So, low-key and pleasurable, which I really needed after the last few weeks. (And there have definitely been kittysnuggles.)

We’re running around trying to get the house clean before my parents show up for a visit. (Not that they will critique our house for being dirty, but they tend to want to clean any dirty things and fix any broken things they encounter, and I’m just like NO, you’re 73 years old and here on vacation, PLEASE SIT DOWN... so it helps to remove some of the low-hanging fruit in this category.)

I’m still so moved by all your comments and advice. I copied them to a separate document for ease of reading and in case this hellsite decides that post tastes particularly good, and I’m slowly working through, Googling things, following links, thinking about options. The replies come to about 3,000 words (with another 1,300 in @bloomingcnidarians‘ separate nail polish post :D). I never dreamed I’d get so much advice and support (and I’m incredibly grateful to all the people who replied with congratulations and support and hugs, advice or no). Y’all are wonderful.

I want to respond more to individual comments but need to go vacuum up some cat hair (for some reason we have an ample supply!) and my folks are here through Sunday morning, so I may be pretty slow. But I did want y’all to know that your replies are seen and very, very much appreciated.

Thank you for asking! I mentioned this briefly in a very long post, but didn’t say anything very conclusive there.

So... this may change at some point and I’ll let you know if it does, but for now either they/them or he/him are fine.

Forbidden jello!

We tried to carve up the jello so everyone could have some, but it must not have set properly because it just fell apart into a big mess.

Now I’ve been biting some black puddings, which are even less tasty. Mmmm, acid on my mandibles.

My group befriended the last gelatinous cube we came across. Highly recommend.

That does sound handy, but tricky! They’re not very smart. (Of course, we befriended Augie the cat, and he isn’t that much smarter than a gelatinous cube. Sorry, baby cat, but it’s true.)
