Raphael turns away from the image of his father, hands shaking until he slams them against his tympana. He shakes his head, whimpering softly to himself, “No, no, you’re not real. You’re not real.”
Splinter takes a cautious step forward, hand reaching out for his son. His voice is soft when he asks, “What do you mean, Red? I’m right here.”
Raphael flinches before the rat man’s hand touches his arm, fear igniting within him. He scurries away on all-fours, desperate to get away from the trickery that has taken form of his beloved father. He shakes his head more violently, “No, stop! You’re not real!”
Splinter retracts his outreached hand, holding his thin fingers to his chest. His expression warps to one of concern, eyebrows etched with worry and helplessness. Again, he tries to reach out to Raphael with his voice, “Red, my son, I’m right here. Your father is here, look at me.”
Raphael shuts his eyes tight, his face shrinking from the effort. He shakes his head just as violently as he raises his voice to block out Splinter’s voice, “No, no! You’re dead! You’re not real!”
Splinter’s taken aback, his jaw dropping slightly in disbelief and shock. “Dead?” He repeats, “Red, I—but I’m right here…”
Raphael’s silent in response, curling himself up into a ball like a child. He rocks himself soothingly, back and forth, back and forth. His hands seem to bury deeper into the sides of his head the harder he presses them into his tympana. Under his breath, in the softest whisper, Raphael repeats, “I am Raphael Hamato. Son of Yoshi Hamato. I am alive. I am Raphael Hamato. Son of Yoshi Hamato. I am alive. I am Raphael Hamato. Son of Yoshi Hamato. I am alive. I am Raphael Hamato. Son of Yoshi Hamato. I am alive.”

Anyways, how do we feel about this?
The Hamatos are barely a month into their recovery post-krang invasion when they hear of a monster running rampant in the Hidden City. With razor sharp teeth, eyes foggy with absolute fury, and enormous form rivaling that of the reptiles once thought to be extinct, the monster searches blindly for answers no one can provide. But the strangest thing about this monster are the two words that escape its mouth in a voice close to incoherent, “Raph… alone.”

His brothers wouldn’t do that to him—whatever happened to him. He trusts his brothers, they wouldn’t lead him into burning waters. If that was even water…
He throws his legs over his bed and rises slowly, fighting against the jelly-like feeling that renders his legs near useless. He massages his leg muscles, trying to get feeling back to them.
“What even was that…?” He mumbles aloud while scratching the back of his head.
It didn’t make sense. Then again, a lot of his dreams recently didn’t make sense.
It always felt like he was looking into someone else’s eyes. —that he was moving someone else’s body, but still familiar.
Probably not a good idea to share a snippet when the prologue is already short as is, but eh, also tw for chemical burn description?
He swallows his nerves as the pain worsens by the second. Now it feels like his body is being torn apart, the acidic burns now healing and reforming new skin—tugging and ripping at his muscles.
Every single nerve under his skin is screaming at him to escape—to do anything. He can feel his skin bursting, tearing and something else he can’t explain. Like something is starting to emerge from his skin—as desperate to escape his body as he is to get out of this false ocean.
He feels sick, he feels gross. He just wants this pain to end.
Context? I have none for you. Pain? Plenty of it—I’m kidding, I didn’t write much for it because acid burns hurt like a bitch (I have willingly put my hand in chemicals before, context will not be provided) and I don’t like thinking about it
