Finding Friends in Unlikely Places | Priest & Dominic
Oh god, oh god, oh god.
How had things ended up this way?
--Okay, no, looking back, it was totally understandable.
Didn't mean Priest was any more prepared, nor any less anxious.
He had tried to kill himself, and was only lucky a neighbor had checked up on him before he was actually successful.
What he hadn't been expecting the day he'd wanted to die was to get admitted to the psych ward after a few-days stay in the hospital.
Priest wasn't worth the trouble of getting treated, right? Wrong, apparently.
As he was escorted to where he'd be staying, his panic levels spiked to an all-time high. The nurse leading him explained many things, but Priest couldn't make himself focus long enough to catch any words--he was too busy fretting over all the worst-possible outcomes that would come of being there.
Upon reaching the room he'd be staying in, it was at that point that Priest was informed he'd have a roommate. That's about when his anxieties got worse, as now he'd actually be forced to socialize outside of the already-required group therapy sessions.
Thanking the nurse, albeit not really meaning it, Priest entered the room and glanced around. Taking note of the bed that appeared unused in the past while, he moved awkwardly to set his things down before turning to face who must be his roommate. Might as well get introductions over with, right? Appearing rude and like he had no interest in speaking with whom he'd share space with (even though it was true, sort of) would likely make the entire experience worse.
"Hey," it came out sounding tight, so Priest cleared his throat and tried again. "I, um. I guess we'll be roommates for a while." He ran his hand up and down his arm, careful not to disrupt the dressings that were hidden beneath his sleeve, covering up the mutilations he'd caused upon himself.
"I-I'm Priest," he stuttered, verbally tripping over his own words due to nervousness. "It's, uh. It's nice to meet you." Well, he wasn't exactly sure of that so far, but it hopefully started them on a good note, and that would hopefully keep the stranger from thinking bad of Priest.
