Everything Wrong with the Supernatural Series Finale
1. Mourning Cas. Cas literally made a love confession and sacrificed himself to save Dean and we aren’t even going to mourn him?!?!?! Sam tries to bring him up, but Dean just BRUSHES IT OFF?!?!?! Way tf out of character especially after a sacrifice like that.
2. Dean’s death. You mean to tell me a goddamn screw sticking out of a post kills him?! Dean. Fucking. Winchester. The greatest hunter of all time killed by a screw sticking out of a post in a barn???? This very much reminds me of Lexa from The 100. Lexa and Dean were warriors and deserved a warrior’s death and yet they were killed off so simply, so pedestrian. Furthermore, for a show that has been preaching #TeamFreeWill for years now, the way they killed Dean was preposterous. He always said he would “go down swinging”, so to stick with the theme of the show, he should have lived a full happy life. But instead he got that bullshit ending.
3. Sam’s future. They sped through Sam’s future so fast and everything was so blurry there was no way to make an attachment to the people he ended up with. He has a faceless wife, and a scrawny kid named Dean. Nothing about that montage made me feel anything for them. It was just bleh.
4. Sam’s death. His death was emotionless. The only person at his bedside is his emotionless son that leaves him with the words “you can go now”. Sure these were the same words Sam said to Dean as he was dying, but Sam’s death was significantly less emotional. The only one crying as Sam was taking his last breath was Sam.
5. TeAmFrEeWiLl. #TeamFreeWill my ass. Dean always said he was going to go down swinging and he did. Without the events of Season 1 Episode 1 Sam was set up to live a full life with a wife and kids and that’s exactly what he got. This is exactly what would have happened to them if the events from the last 15 seasons didn’t happen; Dean would have died young, without a significant other or kids, and Sam would have graduated college and married a woman and had kids. Goes against everything the Winchesters have been fighting against for 15 years.
6. Sam’s hunter son. You mean to tell me after everything Sam went through from a child having his abusive, over bearing dad drag him all over the country to hunt monsters against his will to Dean’s death during a hunt, that he raised his son to be a hunter?!?! That one just doesn’t add up.
7. Brothers in Heaven. You mean to tell me Sam lives a whole ass life with a wife and kids and doesn’t immediately want to share it with Dean when they see each other in Heaven?!?!?! Did Sam even love his wife and kid at this point?
8. Where the fuck is Jack? He’s just cool with Dean’s death?
9. Sam and Dean. After Dean’s insulting death, they don’t even really show Sam mourning him. Yeah we get a short walkthrough the bunker but then he’s right back out hunting. Yeah he names his scrawny ass kid Dean, but it had NO emotional impact. It would have been much more meaningful to show Sam interacting with a picture of Dean and/or Team Free Will in his wallet, or show him driving or taking care of the impala to keep his connection to Dean alive. Yeah we get all the family photos around the house, but they feel like an after thought. Like a last minute decision made by the creators. Sam doesn’t even really acknowledge them from what we see. Literally anything else would have been better than that sorry ass excuse for an episode.
10. 4th wall break? I hated that ending. I get its been 15 years and the cast and crew want to say good bye, but by having Dean and Sam (Jensen and Jared) just turn around and start thanking the fans at the end was ridiculous. Feels like they just woke up and the last 15 years were just a dream. Like what the actual fuck was that. Also, don’t thank me after abusing me with that finale episode.
Sam’s wig. Just another slap in the fucking face.
