Has anyone else noticed the possibility that the modern Starks may all be Targaryens via Aegon IV?
The nine mistresses of Aegon IV, the Unworthy
LADY FALENA STOKEWORTH, Ten years older than the king, Lady Falena "made him a man" in 149, when Aegon was fourteen. When a Kingsguard found them abed together in 151, his father wed Falena to his master-at-arms, Lucas Lothston, and persuaded the king to name Lothston Lord of Harrenhal in order to remove Falena from court. However, over the next two years, Aegon paid frequent visits to Harrenhal. Children by Falena Stokeworth: None acknowledged.
Lucas Lothston, master-at-arms of Viserys I, was wed to the first mistress of Aegon IV and given Harrenhal around 151 AC
LADY JEYNE LOTHSTON: Daughter of Lady Falena, the king's first mistress, by either Lord Lucas Lothston or the king himself. Jeyne was brought to court by her mother in 178, when she was fourteen. Aegon made Lord Lothston his new Hand, and it was said (but never proved) that he enjoyed mother and daughter together in the same bed. He soon gave Jeyne a pox he'd caught from the whores he'd been seeing after Lady Bethany's execution, and the Lothstons were then all sent from court again. Children by Jeyne Lothston: None.
Aegon's rumored daughter was born around 164 AC. If she was known to be dishonored by the king then likely she was likely married off to a family member as were Sansa and Serena Stark and Delena Florent, especially if she was Falena's only child.
Here the theory splits in three.
First, if Jeyne was the only heir to House Lothston and Harrenhal, then likely she was married to a family member and kept the name Lothston. I propose she was - or later became, as her mother did - pregnant by the king and gave birth to a child who later ruled Harrenhal: Danelle Lothston.
The timing is right. If Danelle was a woman grown and ruling in full power in 212 AC then I would estimate she was around 30.
Danelle was called mad, like many Targaryens. Her father being her grandfather would make incest a concern.
Blood magic is a theme with both Targaryens and Aegon IV's bastards.
What about the pox? There's no way of knowing if what GRRM is calling the pox is the exact same thing as it is in our world. Aegon IV survived several years even after dismissing Jeyne from court and she could have certainly lived long enough to have a child by him. Furthermore, not all children will contract it even if their mother has it, moreso if Jeyne was too weak to live through the birth.
Second, if Jeyne was not the only heir to House Lothston and was not Falena's only child the the legitimacy of every single one of her children is in doubt as well. Jeyne did not look like a Targaryen nor was she born immediately after Falena leaving Kings Landing, so there was nothing to suggest she was Aegon's daughter except that he must have been visiting her mother.
If her sibling, the heir to Harrenhal, was also Aegon's child then the Targaryen blood would continue through them.
And third, if Jeyne was not the heir to Harrenhal and dishonored as she was, it's likely she, like Delena Florent, was married to a household guard. Who? House Whent.
HOUSE WHENT Knights in the service of the Lothstons, they were given Harrenhal as a reward for their service in bringing the Lothstons down. They hold the seat to this day, but tragedy has marked them.
Each of the three suggested methods of the Targaryen blood traveling through the Lothston line leads straight to House Whent.
If not directly through Jeyne via marriage to them, then through the marriage of Danelle Lothston's blood to them. After all, everyone from the Starks to the Tyrells takes the daughters of those whose lands they claim.
While everything to this point is theory, we know exactly how House Whent links to the Starks. Minisa Whent wed Hoster Tully and had three children. One, Catelyn, wed Ned Stark and had five.
One last, interesting note.
If Bloodraven was so magically powerful due to the linking of his Blackwood (First Men) blood with his Targaryen blood, then perhaps this Targaryen blood combined with the presence of direwolves is also what woke the skinchanging in the Stark children for the first time in generations.
