Tableau Research
This is some research into the tableau genre using two very different artists. A tableau is designing a set with models to show a scene or some kind of story. The first two images are from the work of Lottie Davies and they depict distorted childhood memories and a the first time a real couple met, and so these photographs are both grounded in some kind of reality despite having been constructed and obviously so. I real enjoy Davies heavy use of contrast and saturation in her images, making the images appear more dreamlike as to appear like memories.
The next three images are from the work of Miles Aldridge, his images more fashion and imaginative than Davies. I really love the clear stories we see from these photographs despite their obvious unreality. The use of breaking the 4th wall and having the model look directly at the camera plays into this idea of the constructed photograph, and so focuses more on the fashion in the piece.
