Herrschaften! Heute erwachten wir bei strahlendem Sonnenschein. Ha, was für ein Glück!

Da sieht die Welt doch ganz anders aus und man hat - gefühlt - auch ganz neue Möglichkeiten...

Vor dem Start in den Tag steht jedoch erst einmal ein zünftiges irisches Frühstück mit dem traditionellen black & white Pudding! 

Natürlich hat das überhaupt gar nichts mit Pudding zu tun, sondern ist eine Art Blutwurst - vergleichbar etwa mit dem westfälischen /rheinischen Panhas oder dem Möpkenbrot.

Jetzt konnten wir das restliche Programm von gestern nachholen und ab ging es für uns nach Clonmacnoise, der wahrscheinlich bedeutensden frühchristlichen Klostersiedlung Irlands.

Ob des schönen Wetters hatten heute einige hundert Menschen die gleiche Spitzenidee und so war es nicht weiter erstaunlich, dass neben den obligaten Reisebussen auch der PKW-Parkplatz knüppelvoll war.

Auch hier war wieder mal "German Day". Mindestens 2 deutsche Reisegruppen konnten wir identifizieren und noch einige Selbstfahrer.

Die heutige Anlage verfügt selbstverständlich über ein repräsentatives, modernes Besucherzentrum, das natürlich auch rollstuhlgerecht erbaut wurde und nicht nur über ein paar Pseudo-Behindertenparkplätze verfügt.

Mit unserer Heritage-Card war der Eintritt für uns wieder einmal kostenlos und nach der üblichen Eintragung ins Besucherbuch, wurde uns mal wieder ein Sticker angepappt und schon konnte es los gehen.

Zunächst erkundeten wir die Ausstellung mit den original Hochkreuzen, die einmal draußen auf der Anlage standen.

An ihrer Stelle stehen heute Repliken, was aber überhaupt nicht auffällt, selbst wenn man es weiß.

Bis zum südlichen Hochkreuz ist die Klosteranlage rollstuhlgerecht hergerichtet. Danach wird es holperig.

Zur besseren Orientierung sollte man über einen Plan verfügen. Wer up-to-date ist, hat sich natürlich die App herunter geladen und lässt sich von dieser herum führen.

Schon an der Kasse wurden wir auf die nächsten Filmvorführungen im hauseigenen Kino aufmerksam gemacht und da wir die Wahl hatten, entschieden wir uns selbstredend für die deutschsprachige Veranstaltung.

Der Vollständigkeit halber sei erwähnt, dass der Film 20 Minuten dauert.

Inzwischen war es 14 Uhr geworden und wir überlegten die weitere Vorgehensweise. Da immer noch die Sonne strahlte entschieden wir uns für einen weiteren Ausflug zum Lough Ree (Loch Ri).

Dieses Mal fuhren wir aber an die Westseite des großen Binnensees durch den der Shannon fließt, in die Hodson Bay an dessen Ufer das gleichnamige Hodson Bay Hotel prachtvoll hervor sticht.

Später schlenderten wir noch an der Uferpromenade entlang und kauften uns an einem Eiswagen ein Eis. Damit setzten wir uns auf eine der Uferbänke und schauten einfach aufs Wasser.

Als wir genug von der schönen Umgebung hatten, fuhren wir am späten Nachmittag zurück nach Tullamore.

Am Abend und zum Dinner zog es uns noch einmal in den hauseigenen Pup des Bridge House Hotels mit dem angeschlossenen gemütlichen Grillrestaurant.

Unsere deutschen (Urlaubs) Bekannten trafen wir heute Abend hier natürlich nicht an, denn die waren ja in Dublin beim Ed Sheeran Konzert...
