I'm still trying to figure out a better design for Stuart bc there's no way that baby's in his 40s 😭 but oh well, mullet kinda fits him...

The pinnacle of 3' steam

The Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México class HR-01 2-6-6-2s, built by American Locomotive Company in three batches, one in 1929 (locomotives 361-366), one in 1934 (locomotives 367-368), one in 1937 (locomotives 369-370). They were made from running at 40 miles per hour hauling fast passenger trains from Mexico City to Vera Cruz and Acambaro, even hauling the only 3' gauge steel passenger cars built until 1969.

These locomotives had a total of 41,097 lbs of tractive effort, and unlike the Baldwin 2-6-6-2s made for the Uintah Railway, could use almost all of it at its maximum speed. They could also operate on rail as light is 45 pound, which is about as light as a Rio Grande K-28. These locomotives were sadly standard gauged in the 1950s, and I'm unsure if they survive in that form.
