Dr. Quandary - Jukebox Buddha (ft. Godforbid & Louis Mackey)
A possibility once is a necessity forever. That is, whatever is possible for X is a necessary constituent of the essential structure of X. If man is able to sin once, then he is essentially a sinner even if he never sins in fact. If it is possible to lie, then falsehood is of the essence of truth. And if you tether your German shepherd with a rope that he is able to bit in two, then you have not really tied up your dog, even if he sleeps all day at the end of his tether. In the same way, if our signifiers can fail to signify, then signification cannot be taken for granted. The possibility of nonsignification is of the essence of the sign.
