Louisiana Summer, no. 2, 48x36in, oil on canvas. 2012. Available. Many question the wisdom of a public self-critiquing, pointing out what I see wrong with my own work in front of potential collectors, but personally I like to know that my favorite artists are human, lol; that they make mistakes, get frustrated, etc. I think the intimacy of sharing the bumpy road to growth can make their work more interesting, especially over time. Whether wise or stupid, I have eighteen years down and only five to go so why stop now? 😁 I like the light in this one, and I love the saucy pose, but I think it feels unfinished, a result of me trying to loosen up my brushwork. Growth is sometimes a painful process, but I like to think that failure teaches us as much as success, and that trying new things always leads us somewhere. (And overall I really do like this one 😊) #painting #oilpainting #figure #figurepainting #figurativeartist #realism #contemporaryrealism #contemporaryart #summer #louisiana #louisianaheat #louisianasummer #louisianafarm #inthetallgrass #muse #neworleansartist #benjialexanderpalus
