I looked at the pictures and laughed out loud. That's not what earthquake damage looks like. And the turquoise house picture? I did a picture search and all the results are either houses in North America or pictures of fire damage or both. (I did not see a trailer with "welcome" in it tho. Did they delete that picture?)
My colleague, who lives in an area with lots if tornados, also says that house looks more like WEATHER damage, not earthquake damage. A Palestinian mutual also noted that houses in Levant are not really built like that at all, & there's not really that much lush green EXCEPT in "Isr*el". So in addition to all the English writing on the clothing (which isn't impossible or anything in nonWestern countries, but not like as common) & the house, the very North American styled house with an English sign that says "welcome" affected seemingly by either a fire or a tornado (NOT an earthquake), & the American styled eletric outlets, these pics are probably stolen from something completely unrelated.
7. Go to a wedding with, go to a party with, go to a museum with:
Roy Mustang, Maes Hughes, Alex Armstrong
I'd go to a wedding with Hughes because he's sentimental, I'd go to a party with Alex to watch the arm wrestling, and I'd go to a museum with Mustang because I could probably learn cool alchemy things from him
Declan wants to become an agent to find those who do harm on international levels, never did he think that he’d work for an organization that has caused international harm. Meeting Jon is a bit of an eye opener.
I throw books when main characters are stupid and I get mad at them. When Jace went alone to Sebastian's corpse at the end of City of Fallen Angels, you bet the book was thrown. Less "violent" version of book throwing I do is slamming the book closed and yelling "are you fucking kidding me?" This happened twice when reading Days of Blood and Starlight. My passionate reactions to books amuses my husband greatly :D
In his defense, Jace was a moron lol
and omfg i do the same re: slamming the books shut haha
I love writing fluff, and this was so much fun to do! I’ll put this under a Read More to keep things small, and thank you so much for sending this in!
Leave a “Love Me” in my ask, and I’ll write a fluffy drabble about two (or more) characters.
Gwendolyn rolled over, curling into Theodore’s chest comfortably as his arms wrapped around her. Humming, she rested her head over his heart, listening to the beat. “We have to get up.”
Theodore groaned, one arm thrown over his face. “Since when do you want to get up early?”
“Since your parents asked us to meet them for breakfast.” Gwendolyn moved up to kiss Theodore on the cheek, smiling easily. “Besides… I wanted to tell you something before we went.”
“Hmm?” Theodore cracked one eye open, grinning when he saw the expectant frown on his wife’s face. “You’re not going to tell me Scarlet’s on her way, are you?”
“Not… exactly.” Gwendolyn bit her lip, pulling away to sit up straight in the bed. “I suppose, in a way… we did promise -a long time ago, on the off chance it happened- that we’d name our daughters after each other. So, I guess… Scarlet could be on the way?”
Theodore stared, looking as if he wasn’t even breathing, his eyes darting from Gwendolyn’s face to her stomach and back. “You’re sure?”
“Mm-hmm. I’m sure.” Gwendolyn reached out, gently placing her hand on his. “Are… you okay?”
“Okay? I’m more than okay.” Suddenly, he was grinning, practically bouncing on the bed. “We’re having a baby! …Oh man, we’re having a baby. The doctors, my parents, your family-“
“Well, I’m having a baby. I’ll listen to doctors, we can tell your parents at breakfast-“ The last bit was a pointed reminder, if Gwendolyn’s raised eyebrows were anything to go by. “And my family is you, and Lettie, and Roland. I’ll tell them next time they’re here.”
Any traces of sleep that might have been left were wiped away, and later, Gwendolyn would swear that she’d never seen Theodore move so fast before… and it took a bit of work to convince him that she was perfectly capable of going to breakfast to share the news.
Still, things were never as easy as they seemed, even while Theodore was practically glowing from the joyous news.
“Theodore, I don’t need to be carried! I am pregnant, not helpless!”
On second thought, perhaps yelling that in the halls wasn’t the best way to spread the news… but it was certainly efficient!
Hi there! So I spotted your answer for writingwithcolor and it was really good. I was wondering, if i'ts okay, could I ask you about Japanese culture? I'm a Japanese culture major, but I was wondering, what parts of culture would a Japanese mother teach for her daughters, if they live in western countries (North-Europe, to be accurate). I'd really appreciate your answer and I hope it's okay for me to ask you this. Anyway, I love your blog and I hope you have a nice day!
Thanks for asking politely! I’ll give you a short answer. Anything longer would count as consulting and I’d have to charge money.
The short answer is that it depends. Japanese people are generally pretty practical and if she thinks the family is going to stay in that country, she might not teach a lot. She might not even bother teaching them Japanese. Or if she’s certain that she wants her children to have a strong connection to Japan she might be very on top of things and do their best to make sure that when they go back to Japan they won’t be discriminated against as much for lacking cultural knowledge. That takes a lot of resources though, and she might not have those resources depending on her financial situation.
The stuff that gets taught or doesn’t get taught is the same for all immigrants/emigrants. Language, including cultural body language. Modes of address for elders and family members. Food. Folklore. Religion. Songs. Pop culture popular around the time the mom was growing up. Both above and below the iceberg line:
