Lourmarin et son temple…

Today we came to Lourmarin Village in France to visit Camus' tomb.

The writer received the Nobel Prize for Literature at the age of 44. With the money he won from the Nobel prize, he bought a house in Lourmarin, which reminded him of the mountains of his birthplace, Algeria. The house is on a street called Rue d’Eglise, we will search there after we finish this post.

He played for his local football team. He said, “Everything I learned about morality, I learned it on the football field and in the theater.”

At 46 years old he died in a traffic accident. The Lourmarin football team carried his coffin on their shoulders.

Lourmarin hasn't changed much since his time; it's a small, quiet, calm and very nice place with no tourists visiting. So many art workshops. The tomb of Camus is also a small, simple tomb. He is buried next to his wife Francine.

Picked up two little cones from the grave. I cried a little more. Visiting the graves of writers makes me very emotional for some reason.

Remembering Designer François Catroux, Master of “Grand Coziness”

(December 5, 1936 - November 9, 2020)

Even if François Catroux never studied interior design or architecture, he knew interiors like few did. He started his career as a writer who specializes in writing articles about interiors. Like his friend Saint Laurent, he was born in French Algeria in 1936. The two grew up together, went to school together, and crafted spectacular and influential careers in Paris, that were synonymous with success. Catroux's first project, a minimalist showroom in the Milanese palazzo of couturier Mila Schon, landed him the cover of magazine L’Oeil, starting a long legacy. 

Mr. François passed away on the 9th of November, leaving the World of Design behind. However, his creative design legacy will live among us forever, as an inspiration to all the interior design field.
