Our sweet boy, Deacon was ushered into peace this afternoon a little after 3:30. Love was whispered beyond his last breath. Deacon was not a guy of many words, nor did he ever make a fuss. Deacon came to us a few months ago from another sanctuary in Alabama. His best friends Britta and Nacho came with him. They had safety within their own group. Deacon was allowed to pass away outside. He loved being outdoors, that was his happy place. He would sit out under the trees, so still and quiet. I think knowing he was truly safe and loved. Deacon did not have an easy life. We also don't know the whole story but we do know he was afraid of his own shadow. Deacon was a very sensitive guy, deep down inside he was a lovey marshmallow. I made it my mission to let him allow me to love on him. Deacon always had a twinkle in his eyes and he could wag that happy tail better than anyone. We are truly thankful for the time we had with this good old country boy! I got to see him blossom and peel off layers of uncertainty. He didn't trust really anyone else but I got to give him love and hugs and let him know how truly wonderful he was. He went from being a dog that laid in the mud and afraid of coming into the house to a sweet potato that slept on cushy beds and fuzzy blankets. He stole one on my nice pillows and claimed it as his own. He passed today with his head resting on his pillow. Deacon learned what it meant to be a true part of a family. Totally accepted and allowed to be who he was. We will all miss this wonderful, lovable goober. He was so quiet and peaceful. Deacon never would have hurt anyone. He perservered through his long life maybe with some uncertainty but also a whole lot of love and peace. Today, he left this world so peacefully, without pain. Run free, sweet Deacon. We will continue to rescue in your honor. Britta and Nacho will carry on and continue to heal. You will always be loved. 💗💔💗 Please donate to help with Deacons vet and cremation expenses. #deacon #peacefulpassing #coontickhoundmix #mastiffmix #lovableboy #foreverloved #usheredintopeace #seniordogs #whereloveiswhisperedtothelastbreat #whisperingwillowsseniordogsanctuary #atpeace (at Whispering Willows Senior Dog Sanctuary, Inc.) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnhzACEFKT6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=13fi0y4uqds0x
