Lamen Week | Day 1
Prompt: Summer Palace Title: Love, Probably Series: Captive Prince Rating: G Summary: Laurent is going on vacation with his family because it’s his parent’s twentieth anniversary, and he hates everyone and everything until he meets a very attractive employee in the lobby of the Summer Palace, Ios' finest resort hotel. Laurent’s way of dealing with that is bullying the poor guy only to find out he’s the heir to the resort. Whoops. Note: Last year I did something canon for this prompt, so this year I'm doin' an AU! Yes, we’re back to cheesy lyric tags. Fight me. Enjoy day 1 @lamenweek and let’s see if I can get my act together and finish this challenge before the end of the month.
Excerpt: “Tell me, Damen,” Laurent asks, tightening his grip defensively on his duffle bag, “isn’t there something else you should be doing other than bothering a guest?” That seems to snap the employee out of his stupor and here comes that smile again. He definitely deserves an A for effort if he's going to continue to act unphased in the face of Laurent’s caustic remarks. “There’s always something else I should be doing,” Damen says easily, like he’s going along with whatever game he must think Laurent is playing. Truth is this whole interaction is actually making Laurent feel uncomfortable in more ways than he can explain; he’s not readily sociable like his mother or his brother, which is why he often tries to avoid situations like this if he can help it. Few people ever seek him out for the pleasure of his company, but this one seems particularly stubborn. “The real question,” Damen tacks on, “is what can’t I do in this hotel?” Laurent thinks it’s said as a way to show-off, like Damen’s some big shot when he’s really just a seasonal hire. That only encourages Laurent to smooth out his features to ensure he looks overwhelmingly unimpressed. “I didn’t ask,” Laurent deadpans...
