Jack whistles as he works, knelt in front of the park’s gate. A rainbow of chalk sits beside him, except for the blue, which he’s using to fill in the sky in his drawing. He switches to yellow, then shades in light coming from the lamp posts. He’s proud of this drawing, and of the spectacle it depicts: his adventure with the Banks children, dancing in an abandoned park.
“So when life is gettin’ dreary, just pretend that you’re a leerie,” he sings quietly, drawing a curvy white frame around it. “As you trip a little light fantastic... with me!”
He continue to sing as he stands up to admire his work. There’s a few more drawings, all in a line, and if he’s being honest, it’s some of the best work he’s ever done. He grins, but then his mouth drops open when he hears a pair of heels on the pavement behind him, walking in a familiar pattern. He spins around.
“Mary Poppins!” he says brightly. “It’s so lovely to see you!”
