The Power To Move
by Danielle Thorne
I don’t know if making people feel is a superpower, and I certainly can’t lay claim to it with any certainty, but I know the power to move makes a book great in my eyes. I want to read a story that makes me laugh out loud or fill my eyes with tears.
The first book that moved me was Where The Red Fern Grows. I was ten years old and its impact stayed with me for a lifetime. Agatha Christie made me think hard. The Hobbit made me breathless. And then there was the seafaring adventures of the Master and Commander series that set my imagination on fire. Pride and Prejudice made me fall in love.
The best stories make you feel. For me, it’s those with sacrifice and forgiveness, laughter and fun. We need tales with silly family, encouraging friends, and moments of insight into God’s plan for us. I enjoy writing them as much as I do reading them. Each one has new characters that become my friends—new conflicts that give me things to think about, and new insights into my own faith and God’s expectations of me. It’s my prayer that my writing will be pleasing not just to readers, but to Him.
The Doctor’s Christmas Dilemma is my fourth book with Love Inspired. It’s inspired by the deep friendships we have in our youth that sometimes develop into romance later when we least expect it. Growing at any age, means recognizing our faults and working on them, and that’s so much easier to do with someone we love at our side. We need relationships that encourage us, support us, and cheer us on, whether it’s family or friends. I hope I caught the essence of these vital support systems in this story. I hope you enjoy the read—and most importantly—that it moves you.
Thank you, Danielle, so much for visiting today!
