Conflict is always hard. Knowing what perspective you are coming from always helps when you are directing the conversation. Staying in the present moment to deal with the issue at hand is productive but healing and loving that inner child during conflict whether it’s yours or the other persons is powerful and compassionate. Work like this validates people, makes them feel worthy and does not diminish who they are. Not to mention healing your inner child removes generations of trauma from your DNA and energy. So the next time you are in conflict with anyone see if you can address both sides of the coin. The way we listen to a children, or anyone for that matter is so important. Being an empathetic listener means being present to the other persons story, feelings and fears. Do Not offer solutions, do not give them advice or tell them everything happens for a reason. All that does is invalidate the other person’s feelings and make them feel what they are feeling in insignificant and inappropriate. Which is the furthest thing from the truth. Everyone has a right to their feelings. Especially if experiencing an acute scenario. Validation and concern, openness and support is what is needed. It’s a process for most people and when a negative experience happens most people just need to talk it out th right that process of purging through communication is often enough. It’s sorting through their own feelings that allows for clarity to come in and make people feel at ease. Offering solutions, advice just causes more confusion and heartache because you haven’t sorted through your own feelings yet. So be patient, take your time and genuine concern when being there for your loved ones. I’m not talking about someone sitting in victim hood or self pity for months... you may need to slap them across the head instead. (Kidding although sometimes you just wanna) But if someone you love and YES...including your children, want to express something to you.... just listen. They will figure things out.
