is that what your nightmares are about     ?     ╱     @lovelack​

he doesn’t like talking about his relationship with his father .   he wasn’t around when he was younger ,   not before he broke through as a player   &   started to make a name for himself in the world of football .   he was around more ,   and the more he was around   :   the worse the abuse became .   little things at first ,   little things that grew bigger and he wasn’t sure how to get out of it .   all the anger and frustration   :   it was turned to those around him .   he wasn’t a good guy before ted walked into his life   &   he soon became some sort of mentor for him .   learned a lot the months he has spent at richmond after coming back .   and while his father is no longer in his life ,   the nightmares comes around now and again .   less when he has someone there ,   even less after marianne started to stay the night .   

sits in the bed ,   eyes closed tightly as he will the memories away .   make the words and actions of his father away .   away to a place where it can no longer touch him .   knows he can’t anymore ,   but it’s hard to remember after the last couple of years .   air is exhaled sharply and he looks over to her ,   can barely see her in the dark   &   somehow ,   it feels good .   at least for a second or two .   maybe she won’t see how damaged he really is .       

❝   my dad   ?   ❞      voice is low and looking down at his hands instead ,   realize maybe his name had been called out in the dark .   wouldn’t be the first time .   kinda gave him away in things he usually wouldn’t want to talk about .     ❝   yeah ,   sometimes i guess .   ❞

hello i am physically incapable of coping with how kind you are and i need you to know that it reduces me to a crying puddle every time. also you're the truest gem in this community and i think you are such a talent and i adore you.

KENNA  !!  i  am  so  appreciative  of  you  !!  i’m  literally  in  awe  of  the  thing  you  just  wrote  me  ,  and  in  awe  of  EVERYTHING  you  put  on  the  dash  .  no  matter  which  blog  you’re  on  ,  i’m  following  ,  i’m  liking  ,  i’m  obsessively  reading  all  your  threads  and  just  basking  in  the  beauty  ,  and  i’m  absolutely  signing  up  for  the  kenna  fan  club  when  someone  creates  it  (  or  maybe  i  should  be  the  founding  member  at  this  point  )  .  I  ADORE  YOU  !!

          restoration’s met chicago gracefully,   little by little it’s progressing framework and faculty to house   real lives,   free of the council’s stringent control.     free to not conform if so desired.     she strides past stretches of sand dunes,   pack slung across her back abounding with sustenance and water.     earth is far from what she’d yearned it to be,   condemned and ravaged by the fallacies of mankind.     or at least,   that’s what she liked to presume happened,   that it wasn’t the   people   striving to endure but those in control   —   those who sought to repair their wrongs to merely fail,   yet again.     nape is still smeared in coagulated blood,   her own,   the jagged nails of a woman sinking them into her flesh from a mere day prior.     something had been amiss,     dasia had taken one glance into caverns lodging depthless eyes before sinking a blade into the side of the woman’s neck   and knew something had been gravely wrong,   there was no life in her eyes,   not a soul in sight.     she would’ve been flooded in contrition if there   was.

          she’d come up on at least twenty-four hours of trekking through searing heat,   the sun brutally beating down against the tattered flesh of her neck.     for the most part,   a curtain of hair shielded her from undue exposure to the sun,   but it stung like nothing else as beads of sweat seeped into raw wounds.     with inclement weather so furiously wearing her down,   day by day,   she figured she must have been delirious when two figures had materialized into view.     yet,   she wasn’t,   it was four,   four and a stranger,   and four had been badly injured.     far worse than dasia had been,   that’s for certain.     inductions set aside for a later time,   a much safer point in time,   dasia aided them in their travels.     once returned to their clandestine bunker,   she took a moment to reorient herself,   to recover from the violent sun’s rays.     if she didn’t know any better,   she’d think solar flares were the heat’s   culprit.

          ❛     marianne,   right   ?   thanks for getting us here.     i thought i’d never see four again.     ❜     that is,   until today.     for a fleeting instance she bites the inside of her cheek,   arms ascending to tightly fold across her chest as she steps forth to stand alongside   @lovelack.     ❛     what is this place   ?     ❜

an exploratory kiss ,   testing the waters between them .     ╱     @lovelack​

he has been in relationships before ,   relationships where he loved someone .   at least what he thought it was .   scared of being alone   &   having someone there ,   it felt good .   but with marianne it felt different .   there was a mutual understanding between them ,   something he never had before ,   something he didn’t really know he needed .   he felt comfortable when she was around .   he felt safe being himself .   felt like he finally found a person that he didn’t mind having around his apartment ,   even when he isn’t home .   didn’t mind how she put her own personal style on things .   seeing her putting things around the house ,   even if it was just a book or a picture   :   it made him feel warm .   nothing is official between them ,   never asked her to move in ,   never asked her to be his girlfriend .   they just were together as they were   &   it was perfect .   (   both of them were private with their personal lives   &   especially with him being a public figure   :   it’s not everything he wants to share .   )   but this is just for the two of them .   feel a bit official however .   more serious than what they have been doing .   his bag is dumped by the stairs and he locate her in the couch   :   come to stand behind her and one hand tilt her chin up so he can plant a light kiss to her lips .   a little more hesitant than usual ,   and when he pull back ,   there’s a small grin tugging at the corner of lips .

❝   got you something .   ❞      she already stay here a lot .   can probably count on one hand how many times he slept alone the last couple of weeks   &   he likes that .   likes falling asleep with her and likes waking up to her .   likes starting and ending the day with her .   likes coming home to her .   thumb brush over her cheek before holding up the house key to the front door ,   a tag attatched with her name .     ❝   thought it’d be a good idea for you to have one of these .   ❞

sit next to her   &   there is a beer in one hand ,   half smoked cigaret in the other   :   and for a few moments there has been a silence .   little to no people on the street and there is just the two of them sitting out here .   roy and jamie is off doing something with the team ,   and for once she and marianne are alone .   just for them .   which is honestly nice ,   there is no talk about football and she can simply enjoy it .   between setting up her own PR firm   &   trying to keep a relationship afloat ,   it’s nice just hanging out .   place beer on the table before tucking the jacket a bit tighter around slender frame ,   sitting forward a bit   &   looking over at marianne ,   there is a small frown forming .     

❝   what ,   like by a witch or something   ?   ❞      takes a sip of beer before there’s a small grimace upon features ,   shake of her head .     ❝   i’ve heard that wiccan stuff is kinda powerful ,   i wouldn’t mess with it .   ❞

❝    at some point you just start to think   –   am  i  the problem?   ❞   pensiveness becomes the man’s handsome features,  the picture of one in deep self-reflection.   he seems to be going down the right path,  a  dark one  that would eventually lead to brighter ways   …   but then the line on his face soften,  abandoning all forms of concern.    ❝   but i haven’t gotten there yet.  i just am bad at  picking ‘em,  you know what i mean?   ❞
