Norman. I -- missed you.
"Maureen?...Y-you're back. I wasn't sure if--I mean...It's been a while. Uh, how are you?"
♘. //because Norman is sooo Maureen's "knight in crazy shining armour". Ha. <3
(( *wibbles with feels* ;u; ))
-staring doe eyed to him; she didn't want to seem so weak, helpless ... it was stupid; she could hear her father telling her just how weak and pathetic she was; she tried not to nuzzle against his hand as Norman brushed a few tears away- It's silly isn't it? -she sniffled for a moment, before gathering her thoughts now ... following him inside as she sat at the table-
"W-well, it's... dangerous. I don't think it's very silly at all to want to die, Maureen." Norman was all too familiar with that notion, though he would never outright try. Mother needed him. He needed Mother. They couldn't part from each other or they would be destroyed, as though they were one person. "Come here." He knelt beside her chair and looked at her wrists, at the cuts lining them, at the older scars now white and wiry on her skin. It pained his heart to see them, but he merely began treating the fresh ones with napkins and disinfectant.
-she finally managed to look Norman, tears in her hues ... she tried to play brave- I .... yes please. -a soft nod was given to him; something in her mind told him she should trust him ... that maybe he could help her- O - okay. -she held onto his hands weakly; before sniffling-
Norman hated to see her so upset, and reached out with one hand to brush a tear away. He tried to think of any times his mother had done such kindnesses for him, kissed a bruise better or applied a band-aid for him. Before she'd met Joe, that was when. Now she could hardly do anything. Shaking his head a bit, Norman led her into the house and into the kitchen, sitting her down at the table.
"I'm gonna grab some disinf-- disin-- um. Disinfectant. It might sting a little."
-nuzzling her head into his chest; she couldn't help but to cry; her hands and arms shaking with anxiety and fear; she wanted to speak but could not bring herself to speak any words ... it was just too hard for her, so she just attempted to hold onto Norman ... clinging to him as if there wasn't anything else- I ... I ... I'm sorry. -she sobbed almost inaudibly-
"It's- it- it's fine, Maureen, it's... it's all right." Norman was lost. He didn't know how to comfort anyone; not even his own mother. Norman swallowed, ran his hands up and down her back. "Come on, I'll just... tend to those cuts, all right?" He pulled back slightly, with some difficulty, and found her hands, holding her fingers. "Do you trust me?"
I ... I'm sorry. I just ... -there was a long pause; as she tried to think of something to say- I just want ... it to stop. All this pain. Hate. -her words were broken; her eyes became red with strain to cry; she was so weak and it took everything in her not to just cry abruptly- I ... -she then sobbed; now clinging to Norman-
Norman blinked in confusion the second before Maureen fell into his chest, her small body wracking with sobs. His hands stuttered at his sides, afraid to touch her - he was so isolated here at the motel, the most physical affection he ever got was a pat on the shoulder from a grateful male guest. "Maureen--" He couldn't even properly talk, and despite the voice in his head telling him no, he wrapped his arms around her, simply holding her on the porch of his house.
No. No. I ... -long pause and a gulp- I had an accident. Blood got on the floor. I'm ... fine. I cut myself. I'm sorry.
B-blood? *But then the words come and hit him smack in the face, and it's all he can do not to reach out and grab her wrists. Has to stop himself before he grabs her up* Maureen! What-- why would you-- wh- w- what would you do a thing like that for? Let me... let me tend to the cuts. Please.
I'm ... sorry I left the bathroom a mess, Norman. I'll ... I'll clean it up. -fails to tell him why and how she "messed" the bathroom up in the cabin she was staying; he'd probably hate her if he knew ... or so she thought anyways-
A mess? Oh, I'm sure it's not so bad. Did the bath tub overflow? Here, I'll get the mop and be right in.
