9 and (goes through list of characters and items to find who doesn't have a good way to break their fall)
Time or Wars, up to you 😌
The ocean rippled far below the cliff, white peaks belaying deadly rocks just below the surface, ready to dash any unsuspecting swimmers to pieces. Time glanced at them, and thought the water looked pretty inviting, actually. He was boiling in his armor.
Time’s grip slipped, just a little, and Warriors gripped him as tight as he possibly could.
“Don’t you dare,” Warriors ground out, sweat trickling down his brow and landing on Time’s shoulder. “Don’t you dare let go, old man.”
“I’m too heavy,” Time panted back, wishing he could free himself from his weighty armor. “Captain, you’ll fall too.”
“You’re the one who’s dangling over a cliff as tall as Hyrule Castle,” Warriors huffed, grunting as he slipped a few precious millimeters forward. “I’ll figure it out old man, just hold on.”
Time agreed with a grunt, and tried to fix his grip so that Warriors wouldn’t fall as well if something happened.
But of course, things never went the way Time wanted them to.
Something screeched nearby, and Warriors and Time looked over to see a small swarm of keese headed straight for them, beady eyes bright with excitement.
“Hold on, hold on—!” Warriors said in a panic, and the keese were upon them, leathery wings and scratching claws battering at them. Sharp teeth scraped at them as well, and the abrupt attack and was too much for their already tenuous situation.
Suddenly Time was falling, Warriors crying out as he was dragged down as well.
They fell out of the cloud of keese and towards the rocks below, and Time snatched frantically in his pouch, aching fingers searching for what he’d need.
Warriors kicked out at the keese as they fell, and Time’s movements grew even more frantic as the water and rocks grew much too close for comfort.
But then Time finally grasped the item he’d been looking for.
He flailed, doing his best to grab Warriors, who was bleeding from a scratch on his forehead, blood smearing in a strange direction from the wind. Warriors attempted to draw closer to him as well, and Time finally bundled his arms around him and fired off his longshot.
The chain zipped outwards, snatching the cliff side they’d just fallen from, and Time and Warriors both grunted as their trajectory abruptly switched. The cliff drew nearer, approaching too fast for Time to hit it safely, and he twisted around again so Warriors was facing out.
Moments later his side slammed into the cliff, and the impact was so harsh that Time let go of his item and Warriors.
Warriors shouted in alarm, but Time snatched for him, and managed to loop an arm around his waist, stopping him from falling. His other arm flailed, and by some miracle, his fingers managed to snag his hookshot.
Both of them hung there for a moment, breathing heavily as they registered the fact that somehow they hadn’t fallen to their dooms.
“Whew...” Warriors gasped, and Time glanced dizzily down at him. Warriors looked rather worse for wear, tiny scratches all over his face and any exposed skin, and Time was sure he looked much the same.
“Well... much better position now,” Time tried to tease, wincing through his own scratches. “Hopefully those keese... don’t come back.”
“Think we scared them with all our flailing,” Warriors panted, then looked up, and back down again. “Ah... any ideas on how we’re getting out of this?”
“Wait for the others,” Time answered, and Warriors sighed.
“I was afraid you were going to say that.”
Time looked at him, up at the cliff, and then back down at him again as he thought through the situation. “...I spy something blue.”
They ended up playing more than fifty rounds of it before Sky rescued them with his hookshots.
