3. How did you choose their name?
i’ll do these in chronological order :3
JORDAN: the VEEERY first iteration of jordan was for a writing warmup in my high school creative writing class. i don’t remember what the prompt was, but we had 15 minutes to write smth and i couldn’t think of a name so i just blurted out “CAN SOMONE GIVE ME A FIRST NAME” and another classmate replied with jordan. and even though that character kind of had nothing to do with jordan and was just used for like a one-off little tidbit, it still feels like the same character. he bounced around a bunch and has changed personalities a bunch but has always felt like the same guy following me around, idk how to explain it. he’s also had the scars for most of it. his pseudonym “wolfe” was just bc i thought it would be funny; i don’t really use it much anymore. his real last name “moreno-alvarez” just sorta came from me playing with names until something felt right, and also felt right on his parents (salvador and marcia) too. it was purely about sound atp. their fursonas name is just crow because i know in my heart thats the kind of guy they are lol.
TUCKER: tuckers name came from the suggested names list for the werewolf skin in monsterhearts. he was originally a character in a mh campaign that completely changed my life both for the better and the worse. his last name is king because i thought it would be funny since i was calling everyone “king!” in the gayest way possible at the time. his middle name is ulysses cuz i wanted his initials to be “TUK”. fun fact: his original name was going to be peter, back when he was a scrappy twink. very glad i scrapped it.
XANDER: originally xander was going to be the gay thot son daughter of dracula, and i wanted her last name to start with X so her initials could be “XD”. xander was the only one i could think of. i ended up dropping the dracula idea but that’s also why her band name is spelled “xount drakula”. to this day i’m still not sure what her previous names were. originally it was going to be frankie and i still love that one but i didn’t want her and konami’s old names to have the same ending sound, and i liked konami’s more. i’ve been thinking about kendall ryan since i like how androgynous it is, and at that point in the story she’s in a weird limbo with her gender identity. but i like florence a lot too! i also don’t know if i like her drag name (trans sylvia, it seems too boring). been thinking about elektra, since that’s already her fursonas name.
KONAMI: i’ve always wanted an oc named konami cuz i loved how bouncy the word was. i was originally going to give it to a furry oc but i never got around to making the character and by the time i made The konami, i figured the name just fit. his previous name (jamie) just came to me on a whim. still haven’t decided his previous last name!
