Recently my mental health has been getting pretty bad. Mainly feelings of being trapped and unable to change my situation in my college. If you could do a short letter from Michael with some comforting words, that would be great, tysm! ^^

I’ve never been to college, but from what you tell me, it sounds like a unpleasantly similar to the sanatorium, which was never any fun. I tend to ignore everyone, but that’s not always the best course of action. However there was one person always willing to listen and to try and help. If there is nothing else I can do to make you feel better, I can do that. I can listen, and know that I want to help.

Grocery store day. You look through the cabinets and fridge to see what you need and make a list. All of the usuals, a few snacks perhaps? Maybe for a movie night this weekend? And that one dinner with friends next week. The note stays on the table, next to your keys, so you don’t forget it when you go out.

At the supermarket, you find the memo in your pocket. In a different handwriting, some more things have been scribbled on it.

Whipped cream

Although unusual and somewhat overbearing, it was an endearing reminder of your unconventional visitor and housemate.

Every day you get up and do what is required of you to build the life you want. I admire your determination, even though it all seems so very unsure to you. Meeting you has not only given me a purpose, but it has also made me feel safe to know that I have a home with you.

Hi and thank u for this wonderful request anon! I feel like he would’ve been the kind of penpal to want to send stuff other than letters, such as stickers and newspaper clippings and so on. Perhaps he will draw too. Imagine him receiving stickers!! Since it was the seventies/eighties, he may also have used a typewriter to type out letters instead of handwrite them. This is in response to someone's first letter to him, asking him a few questions, and that is how your penpal friendship may possibly begin!

I do receive penpal requests and letters. Thank you for your concern on my health. There is little worthy of note here. Dr. Loomis says it is a good thing to practice writing and communication. He is still concerned that I do not speak.

He tries to help me and brings me books and newspapers most days.

Do you like to work with your hands? Whenever I get the itch, I make masks. It is harder than it looks. The other day another patient stole one of them, but I made sure that would not happen again.

The important thing is to find balance. When the mask is too thick, it is more durable, but it weighs too much to sit comfortably and not slide down When it is too thin, it will be messy when I paint it. The fastenings will also be less secure then, since it will rip easily.

Send me materials for more masks. I heard there is special Halloween stuff on sale this time of year.
