because it hit my mind and i'm of the mood to share: Nie Brothers Lilo & Stitch AU. GO WILD

this has been sitting in my inbox for a week (or something; time is fake) because...I mean, is the cackling feral space alien construct Meng Yao, or Wei Wuxian?!? And who’s the mad scientist who created him in a lab, and who’s hte mosquito-obsessed government officer sent to keep him in line?

...I’ll tell you what also works: not to be predictable in my favorite relationships, but Jiang Cheng trying very hard to raise his nephew on his own, the rest of their family dead or presumed dead, and Jin Ling is tempermental and angsty so he doesn’t have a lot of friends...Jiang Cheng takes him to the pound to get a dog, because- because why not, okay, there’s no reason not to have a dog in the house (not for six years.)

Except instead of a dog, it’s a furry, blue red, six-legged...thing. Kinda rabbit-like? Mutant giant rabbit. There are ears. Jin Ling, being six, seven what its name is, and it kind of yowls something, almost like it understood the question, that Jin Ling decides was “A-Yuan.

As a dog, it’d be alarmingly intelligent, quickly mastering doors, the rabbit food container, lip syncing to Elvis, etc. As a giant mutant rabbit, it’s...something. A-Yuan is quiet, at least, usually (it whistles shrilly when excited), and obedient (it must be trained? To a...lot of random commands??), and it’s not chewing on the furniture or anything (though it does break into the cupboard, find a five-years-old bottle of ridiculously spicy sauce and tears it open with its teeth, drinking all the sauce and eating half the plastic bottle. Jiang Cheng loses his temper because it makes a mess and for no other reason.) But most importantly, it’s happy to play with Jin Ling, and Jin Ling is delighted to play with it.

(Meanwhile, watching them from behind a tree at the edge of the beach, an alien mad scientist tears at his own hair. “Why? Lan Zhan, why? Why does the universe hate me, why did A-Yuan need to be found by the one person who absolutely cannot see me?”

“Mn,” his partner/minder/husband (but that’s not revealed until the end of the movie) says sympathetically.

(Here’s what happened five years ago: after being raised by the Jiangs all his life, or at least, all his life that he cared to remember after the street, Wei Wuxian found out that he was actually an alien who could pass for human thanks to some instinctive mild shapeshifting. He found this out in the process of being attacked by government agents and/or other aliens, an attack in which his sister and her husband died.* With a combination of searing guilt and a desire to keep what little remained of his family safe, he went to space and never looked back, letting the world believe he, too, was dead.))

EDIT: oh god, oh fuck, I just thought about the end of the movie and Wei Wuxian being like, “Well, time to...go back to space...because all the lies I’ve told and harm I’ve brought upon this family cannot be undone much less forgiven, and I’m - we’re - aliens so we don’t belong here...come on, A-Yuan...” with Lan Wangji standing behind him, a step or two closer to their ship, and Jin Ling (watching tearfully) and Jiang Cheng (aggressively not looking) on the other side of the clearing 

But A-Yuan (giant red upright six-legged bunny A-Yuan) plants himself in the middle of the clearing, one set of hands on his hips, and accusingly reminds his dad, “Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

*wails softly* oh nooooo

*Idk about Jin Zixuan but Jiang Yanli is ALIVE in a government holding cell, has been all five years, on suspicion of being an alien!! We learn this in the sequel and bust her out, obviously.

for Baobei, WWX is, objectively speaking, THE BEST babysitter. particularly by Nie standards as he knows when to step in and otherwise just be there to guide her and let her do her own learning. sure he buries her sometimes in the dirt and has taught her the best food is red spicy, but he doesn't SPOIL her like certain others do *stares at LXC and LWJ*

Baobei likes all her uncles for their various different contributions

WWX does have a special place in her heart, though. he’s cool

WWX with a giant cat (i am going to push for snow leopard who cares about accuracy it could be a yao also FLUFFY TAIL) lead me to thinking about how someone just released a fic where MXY is alive and WWX got put in a cat body instead and just. cat WWX is a little too fitting. cats and crows suit him well

Y’know, I did have some vague ideas for a fic where WWX... isn’t a cat, exactly, but something along those lines... Also, link pls.

Have you ever considered if the Avengers in Coulson Lives would try a game of DnD? If you have I would be curious to know what you think. I have a whole thing brewing probably cause it's late at night. Tony as a Forge Cleric, Rhodey is a Bard that starts out as a parody of Tony before DRAMA and FEELS got involved. And Sam is the one I'm thinking as DM since DnD feels right for him and is yet more proof he's the only one who had a semi-normal childhood god why?!

If you know the history of MMO’s then you sort of realize that the Avengers have already, technically, done that in the form of Lord of The Rings Online. But the team in Coulson Lives plays a lot of games, video games, card games, board games. Nothing builds a community like the games it plays. A while back now I saw a post where someone suggested a head-canon where “Guardian’s of the Galaxy” is the home-brew table top RPG that the Avengers play. Bucky is the DM (Because if you know the history of Tabletop RPG’s then you know that they’ve been popular since the early 1900′s and Bucky probably has a lot of prior.) Steve, according to the head-canon, announces that his: character is “Rocket” he’s a genetically enhanced raccoon with a gun fetish. I don’t know who the original author was, but I’ve been completely unable to divest myself of the idea. There’s also no way I could do it justice. But yeah, the Avengers probably play some version of DnD. But based on their ages and the fact that DnD is only recently mainstream, and Bucky’s still a bit of a hot mess, I’m going to bet the DM is either Steve or Rhodey.

Okay, let’s see what I can dig up here --

So, Asch has Issues with Luke. 

Ehhh, I just wrote an essay about bnha, so for this, tonight, I’m just gonna ctrl+v my original thoughts.

it occurs to me that asch maybe had this subconscious assumption as a child  that "his replica" was like. AWARE? of what he was and what he was doing? and that being confronted w/ the fact that no, Luke thought he was the original Luke, and also he has only seven years of education and life experience -- was very jarring to Asch, perhaps and he keeps expecting on an emotional level for Luke to be an enemy, and a competent liar, and a smug thief; and keeps being totally stymied when Luke is None Of Those Things

Like, I assume he knows what to expect on a factual level but that within his emotional morass, those childish assumptions keep grabbing him by the neck and saying "BE CONFUSED AND GET MAD" ON THE OTHER HAND as a child, perhaps rather than constructing an image of a smug thief and consummate liar (or perhaps in ADDITION to that, because probably), bby Asch would lie in bed and tell himself that he deserved to be abandoned because his replacement is better than him, probably, in every way like, by 14 he knows better but if he believed it at 10, on some level it never fully goes away so no wonder he'd be such a growly mess about Luke forever

ah, got a little further, and third version of fantasy Luke: exists to serve Asch (by dying) what a flippin doozy of a thing that is subverted expectations 'round every bend

Basically, it’s a supposition that around Luke, Asch constantly feels like... Like when you think there’s one more stair than there is, you know? He can’t reconcile what he “knows” with what he experiences.

And a bit more about being angry again when reality doesn’t match up to what’s been built up in his head, and anger at himself for having those preconceptions in the first place (which of course gets turned around on Luke, again, because hating Luke has probably long been a major coping mechanism for Asch, esp. when he was 10-12), 

plus jealousy: over his family, his name, his image; over having a version of Van around that’s better at pretending kindness; over the privilege of naivety; over not being railroaded into a probably highly unpleasant career... the works, honestly.
