Really? Our preacher asked us for it (with our signatures on it) before the ceremony and then gave it back to us afterwards with his signature added to it.

So what is the issue with it sounding black? I don’t understand.

well really the only reason a black name wouldn’t work is that we aren’t black. He’s of pasty Irish decent and I am a Mediterranean, olive Italian.

If I named my daughter something that the general public may identify as a black or other poc name, actual poc might become upset with me and may think I am appropriating their culture or taking away some of their value by using a name more regularly used among poc.

Which, honestly, I think is a little silly sometimes. Chiara is not a black name. It’s an Italian name. And Italian is a language and a culture, not a skin tone (although it’s people are generally white) and even if it was, it’s a beautiful name. There are very few names I think are not good names in this word and they are completely white names... like Fred. I am also not a fan of Robert. I don’t know why.

My point is, that for me personally there is nothing wrong with a black name. For my husband, he was pointing out that we are about as not black as you can be (I add a bit of tan to that whiteness, but I’m still white). And it’s really a matter of social perception at that point and not so much a personal one.

I should note that 95% of my knowledge of shane dawson is what I see in youtubers react where he basically just watches a video with a straight face, rolls his eyes, and then insults the video every single time. he offers nothing to the video but negativity and it makes ME CRAZY
