This Friday the Ginger Gent, my Mother-in-Law and I are crossing the English Channel and venturing into France. With that excitement in mind and in recent travel news, this #TravelTuesday entry is about a special place in Paris - Pont des Arts.

For those of you who may not have heard of this romantic place, is where sweethearts lock a padlock to a bridge to symbolize their love. Typically the sweethearts' names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolize unbreakable love.

Tying a "love lock" on to the Pont des Arts before throwing the key into the River Seine beneath has become an immense tourist tradition in recent years in Paris.

It was announced in June 2015, it was announced that part of the bridge's railings collapsed under the weight of the padlocks.

Close to one million locks - weighing 45 tonnes - were cut off over the month of July. Workmen began removing grilles from the side of the Pont des Arts early on the 1st of June.

Further, the Pont de l'Archeveche, near the Notre Dame cathedral, is also having locks removed from its side.

I never had the chance to attach my own lock with my sweetheart but I'm glad we had the chance to see this magnificent display of love in the city of love.💕

And what a better way to fulfill that promise than by doing it in this romantic city.

I recommend that you bring your own Lock, unless you are willing to pay and spend your EURO for an expensive price.

How to reach this bridge?

The LoveLock Bridge is located at the Pont de l'Archevêché.

It is the bridge in between the Notre Dame Cathedral and Quai de Montebello.

And since we came from the Notre Dame Cathedral, we just had to walk through its south end passing by its garden with the Seine River on our right.

So this will be your view when you are already standing at the Pont de l'Archevêché.

Luckily, we did! :) it was even locked at the main fence. :)

Love Books?

Just walk straight the Quai de Montebello coming from the Bridge to reach the Shakespeare & Company Bookshop. :)

Lovers lock outside Uffizi.

I don't know why tourists picked this spot, perhaps it is simply random. I would like to think it had something to do with whats inside Uffizi, namely Sandro Bottichelli's "The Birth of Venus". I first caught glimpse of this painting in an art book when I was little, and the memory of its beauty stuck. Seeing it in person was one of the fondest memory I have for Florence.
