Saw this truth on @40acresproject. There is such nobility in serving your fellow man. The true labor, patience, tenacity, and dedication to farming is so often not part of the conversation when we talk about eating well. To support the farming community is honestly the most direct impact to better health for us, our community, and the environment. Buying from the farmer down the road sustains their coffers, keeps fresh seasonal produce economical, and keeps your belly full of healthy food. It also strengthens the local economy keeping the dollars where you live for better civic responsibility that often translates into services that keep your neighborhood services maintained. It's a win in every way that makes life important and healthy. Non-rules to live by: Never limit yourself. In life, in love, with food. How we feed ourselves says a lot about our inner world. Fuel your body with what it thrives on - fruits, veggies, grains, beans, nuts, seeds. Never cut out an entire macronutrient to loose weight (enough already with the Keto B.S or extreme #hclf). Never restrict of limit yourself if you are truly hungry. Never judge yourself for indulging when it feels good. Never divide food into categories of “bad” or “good”. Never overdo it to mask emotions or negativity. Show gratitude to your food -eat and cook slowly. Enjoy the seasons by way of what you consume. Eat foods in their whole form as often as possible. If it comes in a package, skip it, and then break your own rules. Be kind to the earth. Eat locally. Show thanks to your farmer. Grow your own. Experiment. Love your food, your environment, your body, your mind and it will love you back. Ps- this is dense and crunchy homemade rye toast with avocado and homemade coconut bacon!
