I didn't believe gatekeepers were a thing but ever since I've been climbing out of Silver 1, I'm a believer now. The games get harder, the AFKs more apparent, enter losing streak then repeat. Demoted to Silver 2 just to get back to Silver 1. The game can tell I'm only after Gold and it refuses to give in. The curse of Solo Queue Low ELO is real.

How It Feels Playing In Bronze V
Speaking as a low Gold player playing ranked only for Victorious skins/rewards, climbing in low ELO feels like a survival horror game. Not because of bad players, but because of every third person being a smurf intentionally losing games to stay in low ELO to trash the new/inexperienced players. Nothing wrong with making a smurf because you want to play on another server or something, but intentionally inting only so you can beat low ELO players is just stupid.

I dislike my own and low elo's general inconsistency. I never know how I need to play and it's hard to learn and improve if I can't tell whether I'm doing well or the enemy is just doing poorly. The same technique that worked in your last matchup with X champion might outright get you smashed in lane because, it turns out, the last one just didn't know what he was doing and this one does.
My boyfriend jumps from Plat 1 to D1 in just three days. Meanwhile, I've been stuck in S2 ever since the season started. It's just so hard to play ADC in low ELO this season. I wish I were better at this game so my boyfriend would be proud of me. Guess that won't happen any time soon. Big oof.

I'm a female support main who avoided playing "e-girl" champs when I was a lower rank because of the toxic mentality towards girls who play them. Now that I've reached Diamond, I realized that the stereotypes don't matter. If you have the skill, you have the skill. Either way I'll beat you with Taric or Lulu! For any support mains out there - don't let people talk you down for who you play. You are just as important as any other lane.
