Special Treats For A Special Family Member Below is a low protein, low phosphorus dog treat recipe for our four legged friends with kidney disease. 3 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour 1 1/2 Baked Sweet Potatoes 2/3 Cup Cold Water (filtered) 1/3 Cup Homemade or Organic Vegetable Broth (low/no sodium) 2/3 Teaspoon Garlic Powder Heat oven to 350 Once potatoes are cool enough to handle, peel off the skin and add to the bowl with the other ingredients and mix together with your hands to form a smooth ball. If dough is too dry add extra filtered water. Once your dough forms nicely, roll on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and bake for 30 minutes. ***You can also add peas and carrots to change things up a bit.
