Interview of Mrs Nalini and Mrs Murugen. By Upasna Ramnarain.
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. - M.K. Gandhi The 2nd of October is one of the most important day of the school calendar. It transcends the symbolic importance of celebrating a great Man's birth to actually inculcating his teachings in our routine life. The RTSS family joins together to commemorate the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a man who dedicated his whole life to the service of both his motherland and humanity. With all care and affection, teachers and students host around 200 inmates from charitable institutions, senior citizens residing in the vicinity of the school and the grandparents of the RTSS students. The young Form 1 students to the Upper forms students stand together to make the auspicious day an opportunity to serve the ones who spent their years nurturing us. Some may overlook the Gandhi Day as it is a one-day event. However, no action is ever small. If the students shower love to the elders on Gandhi day, they will develop a similar attitude everyday. An ounce of a similar experience can teach more than hundred books on philosophy! The happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more. To quote from the recently acclaimed movie 'The Lunchbox', "A small dose of happiness can change someones's life!"
