No, you do not understand:
Lowgerman is not a lower version of german. Lowgerman is in fact the language modern english and modern german developted from. Lowgerman was also the tradinglangauge of the Hanse in the 14th century so it was reintreduced into english again, but also into iselandic, norwegian and even versions of russia because of teh Petershof in Novgorord and even danish. Nowdays you can not do a norwegian conversation without using at least one lowgerman word. But also lowgerman is still very closely related to english and especially the english certaine people who immigrated to america used where it got mixed again with other languages.
Which means once in a while I who lives in germany in a 400 year old german Fachwerkhaus, am asking my grandmother a question and she answers in a so natural very loud, very clear and fully on Maine “EYUP” that I am mentally transported into a Stephen King Book and am scared to go near drains in fear that a voice will come out of it.
