Jane Austen and Tea (Loki x reader) 3
Pairing: Loki x fem! reader
“No! Not at all! You can sit down!” You felt your face heat up as you realised you had just stared at him for half a minute without saying anything. The young professor smiled down at you and placed a cup of tea in front of you.
“I hope you do not mind that I took the liberty of buying you a cup of tea.” He blushed as he sat down and placed his own cup of black coffee in front of him. He warmed his fingers on the cup.
“Oh no, I don’t mind at all!” You smiled. “Oh and thank you for the hot chocolate and cake this morning.”
“The pleasure was all mine. I rather enjoy seeing you smile.” His cheeks were tainted pink as he glanced up at you. At first, the air around the two of you was slightly awkward, but soon it cleared and you started chatting like old friends. You found it was very easy to speak with him and you understood why the town thought he was one of the best professors they had had in a while.
Hannah and Mrs Lind where watching the two of you from the counter with knowing smiles. Mrs Lind nodded to Hannah and she made her way to your table.
“A piece of chocolate cake, it’s on the house!” She chirped as she left it between two confused faces. She left two spoons with it, so you were meant to share it?
“Do you wanna share?” You smiled and Loki nodded, both picking up a spoon to dig in.
“I had a blast today, I’m happy you didn’t send me off when you first saw me. You know you were staring at me for quite a while before you gave me an answer.” Loki teased as he stood up from the small table. You giggled as he helped you slip your coat on, what a gentleman!
“I had fun too!” You smiled at him. His blue eyes were quite captivating.
“Is it okay if I walk you home?” A gentleman indeed! He offered his arm to you.
“Of course.” You linked your arm in his as you exited the cafe. You continued chatting about nothing important the entire way.
When you arrived at your place you stopped.
“This is me.” You turned to face the black-haired man.
“I had hoped I could see you again, would that be possible.” You blushed, was he asking you out on a date?
“As in on a date?” You wanted to confirm that you weren’t just dreaming. All of this seemed so quaint, so lovely and cute. How were you the one living this?
“Yes, if that would be okay by you darling?” Loki smiled bashfully as a blush crept up on his face.
“I would love that!” You leaned up on your toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He blushed a deep red at the soft touch.
“Is next Friday okay? I could pick you up at seven.” He asked, starting to nervously fiddle with his hands. He was scared he would mess it up.
“Yes, that sounds perfect.” You grabbed his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. He quickly lifted your hand to his lips and smiled widely.
“I’ll see you then!” He waved as he turned to walk away. You stood there, in front of your apartment complex for a good fifteen minutes before walking inside. You couldn’t believe this was actually happening to you, you felt your heart swell with excitement. It was already Wednesday, only two days until Friday!
Loki was basically skipping the entire way home, he couldn’t believe he had actually met a nice and attractive human! He owed his brother ten bucks. He hoped his past wouldn’t be a problem with the adorable human girl once she found out.
The next morning you woke up to your phone dinging.
I hope you have a fantastic day today darling! I won’t be able to make it to the cafe today, but I called ahead and asked them to make you a cup of tea when you arrive. I cannot wait to see you tomorrow! Yours truly, Loki
You giggled at the text. The young professor’s way of typing resembled more a letter than a text, but you found it adorable and attractive. You were just as excited as him, if not even more than Loki.
You basically waltzed into the cafe that afternoon and Hannah immediately knew what was going on. As she gave you the cup Loki had paid for in advance she started showering you with questions.
“So, how was he actually? You know, face to face? Was he just as kind as he seems?” Hannah shot question after question at you and you did your best to answer them all.
“He is a gentleman, extremely kind and considerate. His text messages remind me more of letters than texts, but I kinda like it. It seems more romantic!” you exclaimed as you sat down at your usual table. Hannah had followed you and sat down across from you. “Oh, he is taking me out tomorrow, I can’t wait!” You sighed dreamily sinking into the world of your imagination.
“So what are you gonna wear?” Your eyes snapped to Hannah and suddenly a wave of dread and panic washed over you. “Oh, you haven’t thought of it yet. Let me come over after work and I’ll help you! Just leave it to me!” Hannah smiled brightly as she started getting excited for her good friend finally finding a decent man to date.
Later that evening Hannah showed up at your door with a big bag in one hand, presumably filled with makeup, hair straighteners and some extra clothes, and a bag of snacks in the other. She greeted you as she walked past you into your apartment.
“Now let’s get you ready girl!” Hannah shouted and blasted some music through your good stereos. The night continued with the two of you both trying on a bunch of different outfits, Hannah getting your old shirt and you two picking out your outfit for the next day.
Hannah did your makeup at least five times before she decided how she would do it. The snacks were gone in a couple hours and when you were finally done you decided to watch a movie. A proper girls’ night in was what you had needed after working so hard and pining over the professor for the past month.
Hannah stayed over and took the Friday off from work to be there for you. You hadn’t gone on a date in ages and you felt nervous. You really wanted this to work out. Not only was professor Laufeyson very attractive, he was also witty and considerate. He seemed like a very interesting person and you couldn’t wait to get to know him better.
While you were getting ready Loki was in the middle of a fight with Thor in his own apartment. Loki was wearing a fine dark blue suit and he had even shaped his hair as sophisticated as possible, but it wasn’t very easy with a man bun.
“I cannot leave today, brother!” Loki snapped.
“We need you Loki, we need your knowledge.” Thor’s voice was almost pleading and as much as Loki would’ve loved to make him beg even more he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“I cannot leave this town today... I will come as soon as possible, that is a promise!” Loki whined back. Thor cocked a brow questioningly. Loki never whined, something was going on.
“Oh? And why is that? If you are able to give me a proper reason then I can try calling the Man of Iron of the Captain of America, but if you don’t then I cannot do anything for you,” he argued and placed Mjölnir on the coffee table. Loki sighed exasperatedly and threw his hands up in the air.
“I’m going on a date today..” he mumbled and Thor couldn’t quite hear him.
“Excuse me?” Thor didn’t mean to sound unfriendly, it just happened and he winced at the tone in his voice.
“I’m going out with a very lovely young woman today whom I have been courting for the past month, now would you please let me leave? I would really hate to have her wait for me.” Loki tried to sneak past Thor, but the older one grabbed his arm. As happy as he was that his brother had finally started to adapt to the human world he couldn’t let him go.
“I apologise, I have to take you with me.” Loki was about to fight back, but Thor hit him over the head. He knew Loki would be blind with rage when he woke up, but the Avengers really needed his help.
You waited for an hour, but Loki never showed up. You didn’t know why you were so upset. You barely knew the man and had barely talked to him. Was he really not going to show up? After half an hour more you gave up and went into your bedroom, changing into something more comfortable.
You were in your pyjamas with a tub of ice cream, sitting on the couch watching bad reality TV for the drama when your phone dinged.
I am extremely sorry darling. I did not mean to stand you up, my brother came to visit unexpectedly. I am having some erm... family problems. I will call you tomorrow, I promise! I am not the kind of man to play with a lovely woman’s feelings. Yours truly, Loki
You put down your phone and ignored the message. But it dinged again, tearing your attention away from the TV for the second time.
If that is okay, darling? I would be ever so grateful if you gave me the chance to explain. Yours truly, Loki
The message made you smile and you quickly typed out a positive response. You just hoped for his sake he had a good explanation.
