The systematic removal of Lakota children has had a harmful impact on the Native way of life because they lose knowledge of their culture. The kidnapping of Lakota children has not only taken them from their families, but has torn communities and traditions apart. The actions being taken against the Native Americans are consistent with cultural genocide, as the Geneva Convention implies.
