Showing us his sad childhood and oh so noble days in the army, then having him grow closer to Sofia

THEN have Teresa still be supposedly in love with him after all the manipulation

Okay honestly my irritation stems from the writers making him Teresa's love interest. WHY DOES SHE NEED ONE?
