Fire is the easiest to draw cartoon for me. The hardest to draw is Ouroch. I can't get his head right... Also all these people would need therapy irl.

Lore rambling that got kind of long so im putting it under the readmore

It would never come up in my story but I was thinking about naming the dog/wolf/bear people something like hersuitites or something idk

Them and the Ungauls (ungulate) people and the cat/feline people are slightly domesticated as they have farming etc so have more food and have less pressure to 'stay inside the lines'. Meaning they can be piebald/ lighter colors/ curly tails etc.

Fire eyes and Salt are not based on domestic animals as they have hunter gatherer cultures. (this is not some comment on irl peoples, im playing dolls with my characters in my made up head world)

I drew katie as a nimravid because I was thinking about remaking the characters that are modern day animals into past analogs but i kind of like them how they are right now. Also i think that in universe, I wouldnt have modern animals like dogs/cats/cows if there is also a people of the same animal. It would match the paleo setting better and have less 'dog person walking a dog on a leash' problems.

Both the Hersuities and the Ungauls are a gregarious sort of people. Ungauls live in more of a loose coalition with leaders of villages making up a council of leaders with lots of infighting and posturing. The Hersuities have a highly stratified and structured society where they all pledge to do and die for their one king. Both groups distrust outsiders. Hersuities live in remote places so they dont get many visitors (but warm up eventually). Ungauls live nearer to other peoples, but often quarrel or war with them so they are used to expecting harsh receptions. They are also not above tricking others to get what they want.

Chief Ouroch's goal is to make a perfect society in line with his morals and sensibilities. He is not a tolerant type of guy, which is a bit odd for a Ungaul. In his mind, if one of his constitutes does not like his rules, they can leave. And if they stay and break the rules, then it is their own fault they have to face the consequences since the law is very upfront on how he wants his citizens to act. Ouroch trusts Lt. Lou to always watch his blindspot (literally and figuratively).

Lt. Lou is less uptight than Chief Ouroch by himself, but becomes very militant when he is enacting his Chief's orders. Lt. Lou is also very strict with himself, and follows his own internal code tightly. Lt. Lou idolizes Ouroch for wanting to change the world into what he thinks is a better place.

Idk if i want Lou to be beardog or a just a dog. I like the idea of these two being 'domesticated' animals as their people have agriculture. But being pres\historic animals would kind of fit my late stone age/early copper age setting....

And if i give lou a long amphicyon tail, then he and katie would both have long black tails and that kind of messes with the character design balances for me

I do think i would like to keep Ouroch as a domestic sheep/goat as i like the idea of him being embarrassed by his long ears and tail as he thinks they are a weakness. ( and lou misunderstanding Ouroch's self-loathing as self-discipline)
