Lieutenant Sheba Part 5
In the season finally, The Hand of God, you start to see a relationship bloom between Apollo and Sheba. The proposal for Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica had several episode synopsis and the first one, The Return of the Pegasus, was the most disturbing. Apollo, Starbuck, and Sheba are about to launch to take on some Cylon scouts. Starbuck feels that Sheba shouldn't take part in the mission, but Apollo overrules him. However, it turns the scouts are a full fledge attack wing. Before the rest of the Galactica's Vipers can launch, Sheba is killed.
I don't know why Glen A Larson decided to get rid of such a terrific character, especially since in the proposal women were to take on larger roles in the series. The only reasons I can think of for the death of Sheba, is that it would leave Apollo as a widower and Starbuck and him continuing to be partners and the main characters of the show. Another possible reason, is that Apollo would feel guiltily for her death, basically a repeat of Serina's death in Lost Planet of the Gods.

Lieutenant Sheba Part 2
In part 2 of The Living Legend, the Colonist were in desperate need for fuel. Their only chance was to gain fuel from the fuel depot on the Cylon planet of Gamoray. However, for the Colonists to capture the depot, the Cylon anti assault batteries needed to be taken out. Apollo led a group of commandos, including Starbuck, Boomer, Cassiopeia along with Sheba and Bojay from the Pegasus to destroy the anti assault batteries on the ground. Their ground attack was a victory and Apollo’s commandos returned to the Pegasus due to Bojay being injured.
Apollo learned that Commander Cain intended to have the Viper squadrons punch a hole through the Cylon fighters approaching from the three Cylon basestars that had been dogging the colonial fleet. Cain’s plan was for the Pegasus to take on the basestars single handily. Sheba led Silver Spar squadron into the battle but her Viper was hit by a Cylon raider before Apollo was able to save her. Baltar believed that the Pegasus was a decoy and had the Cylon fighters continue on to the Galactica which was still above Gamoray. However, he soon realized that Cain and the Pegasus were out to get him so he recalled the fighters. The Pegasus’s injured warriors, which included Sheba were shuttled back to the Galactica escorted by all the available Viper squadrons. The Pegasus destroyed two of the Cylon basestars but disappeared in the aftermath of the battle. Later in the Galactica’s life station, Sheba was recuperating and is told by Adama to consider herself part of their family. Anne Lockhart at this point had become a main cast member of the series.
