What do you guys think "death of the author" means? And what is your source for that? Recently I've seen a lot of otherwise very skillful communicators talk about it in a way that is incorrect and I'm curious to know how much it affects the readers.
"death of the author"
I've never heard that phrase
I've heard the phrase before but idk what it means
I know what it means but I can't phrase it correctly
I can answer in the comments / agree with some of the comments below
I'm Roland Barthes
There's nothing like the correct answer here since the phrase is being used in a lot of contexts.
I started using Twitter recently and that got me thinking about the question of the poll bellow. I got curious about how people treat the pieces of information they receive in literature. (Because on Twitter I see a lot of people getting angry for no reason.)
By "unclear information" I don't mean plot holes but more like a character mentioning a city that you don't know where it is or a poem that doesn't specify where the lyrical subject is situated.
(if you're not sure, click on the one you feel applies the most often)
How do you feel about unclear information (that's never revealed) in literature?
I can't stand it, I need everything to be clear by default
I don't like it but I got used to it
I usually can't recognise when information is unclear
I have no feelings about it
I like to see it, I like the tension it creates
I find my own explanation to clear it up

It´s a good thing when a man is different from your image of him. Is shows he isn´t a type. If he were, it would be the end of him as a man. But if you can´t place him in a category, it means that at least a part of him is what a human being ought to be. He has risen above himself, he has a grain of immortality
