Book Title: All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven February 22, 2017
#32 Write a letter to one of the characters in the novel. (Proper letter form was taught to you) Discuss actions in the book and ask him/her questions as well as offer any advice you can.
I hope this letter finds you before you decide to end your life, again; and I truly hope you read it all through. I think this is important—really important. I felt compelled to write you today, from a position of experience. I’m not here to lecture or blame you; I am here to simply give you hope and courage to go through.
I know it is unfair. I really know. You are young, and don’t deserve to carry the cross as your burden like the weight of the world is in your shoulders. But do remember that you still have your family to talk your problem with. I know you are independent or at least you are trying to be but keep in mind that problems are created to be solved together. You will just end up being more depressed if you keep it by yourself. It’s not only you who lost a love one; your parents lost their eldest daughter too but look at them, they are trying hard to cheer you up and move on even if they are also dying inside. It’s already been 10 months since your sister, Eleanor died, but please I think it’s already time to move one. I’m not saying to totally forget her, but at least try to live your life. The world didn’t stop when Eleanor died, it keeps moving and I think it means that you should also move on too.
Life is a rollercoaster ride and I understand that you may be shock for things are happening so quickly, but besides your family, no one can help you any further but yourself. Learn to heal yourself. Do something to put your pieces back together. You already have the best outlet of emotions in the world, and that is writing. They say that you write the best essays, stories or poems when you are heartbroken or sad, and I think it really fits your situation right now. Yes, it is a tough road, but it will get better soon and you will understand eventually why everything has happened and how it has made your life better.
You know, there are people who are destined to be in our life, make you feel special and make you fall in love but doesn’t really have an intention to stay. I understand how you react when you lost your sister, I lost my father too so I know what that feels, trust me. But then I think is too traumatic for you to loose Finch who saved your life at the beginning, who made you smile again, and introduce you another chapter of your life, like you wished you never met him. I understand how devastated you are knowing you are alone again, that you feel sorry for Finch for you couldn’t save his life while he saved yours and you want to give up again and just end it. I think that’s a very bad idea. Please don’t run away with your problems. Don’t abandon this part of yourself. It’s okay to carry those feelings, no matter how ugly they may be—for now at least. Until you’re ready to finally let them go. It may take months, even years or an experience for you to be ready. And that’s okay. You’re okay. Those questions in your head will soon be answered. Until then, please just be patient with yourself.
Life is fleeting, and it is temporary. It can end in the blink of an eye. You have to use what little time we have here on earth the best way we can. Take chances, try new things, push yourself to the side and be extremely proud of who you are. Learn from mistakes you made and work on bettering yourself. Love yourself first, be responsible, do something today that your future self will thank you for and I can promise you—the rest will fall into place and your life will be more beautiful than you could ever imagine. Be bold, be different and blossom. I believe in you, Violet! 👍😉
