I'm still not over the fact my mom lived the concert and wants to marry Darren now
Listen Up Indy (Not a VIP)
So I'm FINALLY home from the epic road trip to see Darren Fucking Criss! I spent 3 days in Indy (which coincidentally was during Gay Pride week if I'm not mistaken).
I drove 8.5 hours to go see him and it was totally fucking worth it. He exudes energy and when he sings it's like he's singing right to you as cliche as that sounds.
I was determined to meet him because I drove so far for his concert and I wanted to get as much from the experience as possible.
The songs were amazing both from Darren and Theo. I can't wait to get my hands on studio versions.
The show started at 7:30 but I didn't arrive in town until 5pm!!! I was freaking the fuck out thinking I was gonna have to watch the show from the back of the room! But!, luckily as they let us in and we made our way through the labyrinth to get to the concert hall LOTS of people swamped the merch table and I fucking ran to the middle of the room and ended up about 10 rows from the stage which I think was really fucking amazing.
Ok, I DO have some tips for future Listen Up concert goers....
First, if at all possible buy merch BEFORE the concert. Send your friend up to the merch guy and hold their place in line that way you don't waste time inside when you could be getting a bitchin spot on the floor.
Second, if you're SHORT wear some big ass fuckin heels and suck it up. Your feet will hurt something awful but you'll actually be able to see the show. Keep in mind that I said if you're short! If you're average height, don't be an asshole and block everyones line of sight. I'm 5 feet tall, even. So, if I wear my tallest boots I'm still below average height.
Third, if you want to meet Darren, your best chance is to hang out by his tour bus after the show. Be sure to know where he's playing next and how long it takes to drive there. The further away the less time he has to hang out. (The FRONT of the "line" is likely closest to the doors where the band members are exiting not necessarily closest to the bus)
Fourth, don't stand too close to the bus' trailer! The band needs to get their instruments into it and if you're in the way you'll just be asked to move so, don't do it!
Last, BE PATIENT! At Indy we had to wait like 4 hours AFTER the show to get to meet him.
It was worth every. fucking. minute.
I had him sign Dr. Seuss' The Places You'll Go for my son. Because if anyone is living prove that you can do anything, it's this man. Everything that he's accomplished thus far? Fucking amazing. I plan on collecting autographs from other inspirational people so I can give it to my kid when he graduates.
He was so sweet and honored to be considered inspirational. He made small talk about my project and said how much he loved the story. He left a small message in the book and signed his full name with a little heart and a smiley face :)
In short? (too late)
It was totally awesome.

AFTER the Darren Criss show my friend Andria and I went to this greasy spoon 1950's restaurant at 3am because we were starving. In walks Lance Stephenson, starter for the Indiana Pacers!! This little hole in the wall place LITERALLY could only seat maybe 10 people tops. Do I have wizard powers? This shit is INSANE!
